I got my basement built in June 2014 by the crews of finishedbasement.ca and the work is fantastic. The craftmanship and professionalism of the crews is top notch. If the finished craftmanship is important to you; then this team will deliver as or above your expectation. I dealt with Vitaliy and he’s a man of his words; keeping and delivering the promises he made during the negotiation throughout the project. His dad, Igor, is amazing with his skills and experiences. Prior the work started, Igor came to give an layout to what the basement would be looked like. He did not need a measurement tape and eyeballed the distances and drew out the layouts; I took a tape and measured the distance values he was eyeballing and Whoa, they are banged on!!! I’m still amazed by the experience; it was fun! On top of that, Igor is a very nice man; he shares his experiences, giving advises/ideas to help to visualize your desire finished basement before it even started. In my case, we are able to maximize our space. One disastification experienced during the project was that after the plumbing crews completed their job; they did not spend time to show us what had been done. Acknowleging that they worked late till 10pm (we provided pizza/drink) and the job completed properly but since they had decided to stay late to finish the work; it’s not unreasonable to ask for a 5 minutes of touring what they had done and answering any question/concern we might have. So far, no major issue/concern with the plumbing work is encountered yet. Hence, I think that a communication skill of the crews need to be improved more and that would make the finishedbasement.ca team a totally completed package. For an example, there should be a staff in each team that do a quick 5 mins around with home owner after each work day to show what’s been done, what’s coming and/or answer questions/concerns on site that a home owner may have. Vitaliy is just a phone call away for any question at any time but sometime it’s much easy to have someone answering a question on site. Furthermore, most homeowners are probably not familiar with construction terminology; hence it’s easier to ask an onsite staff exactly what a homeowner sees as a concern. Finishing a basement in 2 weeks time frame is intense to the crews as well as to the home owners; hence any transparent communication that can be done quickly can ease the nerves as well as any potential mis-understanding on both sides. It was a right decision to go with finishedbasement.ca to complete my basement as it was done above my expectation. I would definitely use finishedbasement.ca again if I ever need to do another basement.
