Bildam just finished a basement build for us and we couldn't be happier. We had known about the company for some time as they had built a deck for our neighbour, and we knew that they did high quality work, so we called them in to quote on our "first half" basement build. We knew from the start we wanted to split the work in two phases. Adam came in to quote and was courteous, detailed and helpful in coming up with options to treat the phases of work. We chose Bildam based on their reasonable quote, and because every reference we spoke to (and one where we went to see the work) couldn't say enough positive things. So, I'll add my own positive comments to the long list. The contract and pre-build process was clear and uncomplicated, and Adam even came shopping with us for fixtures to make sure we avoided any pitfalls. When Bill and the crew began work, they were amazing...the quality of craftsmanship is very high, and I really appreciated that they kept mess to a minimum, cleaning every day. They even took care of things our home builder had missed - like fixing poor insulation and a bad dryer vent, before proceeding with the work. A friend who works for a major Durham home builder looked around and was also really impressed.They kept the project moving along - work was happening every day and they were always very clear about the schedule so we knew who to expect, and when they were coming. You can also tell a lot about a contractor by the kind of relationships they have with trades, and everyone - electricians, plumbers, HVAC and more that Bildam brought to our home were great - they did high quality work and were incredibly courteous. Throughout the project Bill and the crew were flexible - as we went we nearly doubled the scope of the job - and helped us solve design problems expertly. I really appreciated that they put a great deal of thought into the final aesthetics of every detail - from trim to tile and more - and don't just put something together quickly to finish up. They were eternally patient with us for any questions we had, and always responsive by phone or email. Adam kept us well informed of cost implications of any changes we made and there were no surprises in cost or timing. And, the finished product is just what we wanted - a custom space for our family's needs, including a playroom/spare bedroom, beautiful bathroom,storage areas and a custom sewing room with cabinets and storage -and all of it solid, safe and great looking. Not only will Bildam be back when it's time to finish our rec room, but they will be the only contractors I call for any home or landscape renovation. There are lots of contractor horror stories out there - we avoided all the headaches when we hired Bildam Home Improvements.
