Avenue Road should not do flat roofs. it is a complicated application and should not be left to subcontractors. They replaced our flat roof and shingles in 2006. The install was done in the winter and every spring and every fall since then there has been a leak somewhere in the roof. The warranty people do come, but with varying levels of knowledge. One said it was plumbing. One said it was condensation. So far they have replaced all the roof vents on the back of the house (warranty), did one repair of a seam (warranty) and replaced all the downspouts and scuppers ($6000 on top of the original install) our house is 40x30ft, so not that grand that it warrants almost $30,000 in roof expenses. After several visits by the warranty team and many complaints they agreed to pay for the $2000 in interior damage. It has been 3 months and we are still waiting for payment. We asked to speak to the owner and he didn't even try to make contact with us. They don't use email. The voicemails from Doug Cochrane have been 'call me back'. The website does not give you a copy of the request. They don't acknowledge faxes. Had I known better I would have paid less and gone with someone else.

Dear Michelle, It was a pleasure meeting both yourself and your husband and I’m happy I was able to address all of the issues to your satisfaction. I was even happier to receive your e-mail stating that after all of these torrential rains as of late, there has been no detectable leakage of any kind. I look forward to checking the roof over in Nov as agreed in order to ensure that the roofing system is in good shape and will continue to perform without problem. You have all of my contact information including my cell and if there are any problems or concerns at anytime please feel free to call me directly. See you in the fall – thx Ed (Partner)

This is the second time we ordered from Brock. The first order (also a small order) went like clockwork. This one needed 2 separate sets of measurements, 3 installation dates (I had to be home for only the first two) and 4 months to complete the order. Customer Service was responsive and the installer was good, but it took way too long and way too much effort. I'm sure the order was caught in the Christmas holidays and Home Reno Tax Credit rush, but 4 months seems a bit excessive. Brock has a great, well priced product, I wish I had been prepared for a 4 month wait.

I found Geroge on Homestars and the many positive reviews are correct. Our front doors were painted and we planned to replace the 40 yr old locks ourselves with a weiser model from Home Depot. When we couldn't install it, we called Eagle. George came right away and made an honest attempt to install the locks for us. Turns out our doors are thicker than standard. We had no choice but to go the custom route. George patiently helped me understand the different models and materials. He also let me try to find some locks on my own (looking for a deal). In the end we went with an Emtek lock. No delays in getting the lock or installing the lock. I would definitely use him again.

Yet another positive review for Brock. We ordered 4 basement windows. The salesperson did not try to upsell when I asked for the basic model. The installer let us pick a convenient time and we have had no issues during this rainy summer. It is nice to get something at a fair price without any hassle.

We have an older style skylight that really heats up our 2nd floor. Metro Skylite discussed the options with me and actually talked me down to a much cheaper alternative that works perfectly for us. The installer was courteous and clean, and there was no issues with payment. And then a few weeks later they called to check if we were happy! A very positive experience in all respects. When it comes time to replace the skylight, we will definitely go back to Metro Skylite.

We ran into some problems with our water heater and after several back and forth visits from Enbridge we were not going to wait weeks for the issue to be resolved. After being treated so poorly by Enbridge we were completely thrilled to be able to call The Chimney Company and discuss and schedule the work with a short phone call. The guys came on a Saturday to get the work done for us. These guys are organized and they know their stuff.

We used Cadillac at our previous home and everything was perfect. Perhaps this time was just bad luck. Ernie came to quote on 3 sets of shutters. Cadillac was flawless in the way the order was processed and installation was scheduled right away. 2 of the 3 shutters were installed perfectly. The 3rd shutter was an ordeal. On the first installation the installer noted the window wasn't square so he had to get the shutters cut down to fit. Then he came back only to realise that the louvres were too wide to fit the depth of the window. He offered an alternate installation method that would have changed the look of the window and I rejected that idea. So he had to come back a third time to install different shutters. Cadillac gave me a discount on those shutters (at my request), but I would have preferred to pay full price and have them measured correctly in the first place.

We contracted John-Luc and Sandra's team to update our basement living area (drywall ceiling, closet doors, repair mold, window well repair and tile). Throughout the entire process they were always approachable(in person, phone and by email) and their crew was very professional. They were always respectful of our concerns and willing to accomodate our schedule. For us it was a great relief to have trustworthy, diligent people that showed up on time, did the work and were easy to deal with. I will definitely be passing their name on as a must-have contractor and am already planning the next project. Thanks John-Luc and Sandra!
