Anyone can set themselves up as a moving firm. All you need is a van and an advert in a free paper. It's why there are so many cowboys. If you want to save a few bucks, go ahead and hire the two guys who turn up wearing stained white vests, driving a U-haul, and then spend their time rotating between taking smoking breaks and wrecking your furniture/house. Just don't be amazed when they suddenly want twice the original estimate. If you want professionals, who wear uniforms, have all the gear, and do exactly what they say they would, then hire Fireman Movers. They made our move pretty much stress-free. Diana in the office was very helpful with scheduling the move. Lorne, one of the owners, visited us beforehand to make sure we had the right number of movers. All charges were fully explained ahead of time and we recieved a complete estimate by e-mail. We're a busy family with 3 kids, so we also needed help with the packing. Fireman movers sent two packers who boxed up our house in a day. They couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The move itself went just as smoothly. The team of four movers used carpet runners throughout the house, shrinkwrapped all the furniture and put blankets around any fragile items. They worked quickly and competently. Again, all were professional and courteous. The result is that not one single thing was damaged nor was there any damage to the houses we were moving into or out of.

Our real estate agent recommended Warren when we were getting our house ready to sell it. Warren was round almost immediately on a Sunday afternoon to give us an estimate and talk us through paint choices. That estimate was exactly what we paid when the job was done. The next Tuesday and Wednesday, Warren and his crew (Adam and Paul) either repainted or touched up every wall in our 1500sq ft home. And trust me, with two young and energetic boys in the house, it needed a lot of touching up. The guys were very fast, left no mess and were cheerful and friendly throughout. (Warren is incredibly enthusiastic and cheerful. I suspect it's all the espresso he drinks.) The quality of the work was very high: no brush marks, missed spots or drips on the baseboards/floor. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Warren and we'll definitely be using him to redecorate our new house.

Supreme roofing were recommended to us as a family firm who could be relied upon to do a good job redoing our roof and tidying up afterwards. They did not disappoint. Their quote to replace our roof, including stripping off the three layers of shingles (including a bottom layer of cedar) was very reasonable. The crews are supervised either by the owner Bill or one of his sons. They completed the job in around two days and were professional and courteous throughout. The roof looks great and, more importantly, is watertight. They cleaned up so well afterwards that it was hard to tell they had even been there. I'd heard a number of horror stories about people finding roof nails in the backyard for the next few months. So far I've found one nail. Overall, I'd definitely recommend these guys. It's easy to see why they've been in the roofing business for 30 years.
