TLDR: The kitchen counter they cut and installed has water damage after only a few months of normal use. Company will do nothing about it and yelled at me on the phone when I tried to speak to them about it. Details: We purchased (and had installed) new laminate countertops from QuikTop in the winter. After a couple months use we spotted swelling along one of the seams where theyd made mitre cuts to accommodate the angles of our kitchen. We had been told by the installer to avoid letting water pool on the seams. Since they were bright new counters, we've been very careful - even though this home had laminate countertops with the exact same cuts for 30 years and we had never had any problems. I contacted them about this and here is the response I was given: The sales person told me they couldn't do anything and this was a problem with this kind of countertop and wouldn't be covered by warranty. This problem was never told to us until the counters had been installed and paid for. (Also, see above about our old laminate having no such issues). I said I would leave a review to try to warn other customers of this issue. At this point Orion started *yelling* at me about how awful I was for trying to blackmail him (??). After the call he followed up with an email calling me unkind for blackmailing him. I assure you, no blackmail is happening. Just leaving a review! The owner called me a little later. He thankfully did not scream at me. However, he did say this was a common problem and they wouldn't do anything about it. I asked why he continues selling a product without properly warning customers, but he shrugged me off. My expectation from a kitchen countertop is that it can deal with incidental water and debris. These countertops do not meet those expectations. If you are shopping for countertops I would highly recommend steering clear of the laminate sold here. After my awful experience with Orion and the unwillingness of Peter to offer any kind of olive branch, Id recommend not taking your business of any sort to QuikTop. Note: QuikTop did sent a technician over to reseal my seams after my complaint. However, the damage is already done.
