I’ve been working with Greg for the last few weeks planning some work to be done at my condo in preparation for it’s sale. Meeting with Greg the first time and hearing his story, I was struck by the passion he has for what he does, his high standards, his passion for helping other people, the importance he places on finding the right people to have on his team, and nurturing those relationships to make sure they are as reliable and responsible as he is. As a new home owner, I had contractorphobia (it’s a thing. Look it up) from hearing countless horror stories of contractors doing half-baked, ‘just enough’ style jobs. That’s even if you could get one to commit to doing any work for you in the first place (As a matter of fact, I put out my condo job on Homestars, and Greg was the *only* contractor who responded). I felt very reassured after hearing Greg’s story and chatting with him that he is not one of those horror story contractors. I was anxious to have him out as soon as I could to see how he worked; because a story is just a story, and the proof is in the pudding, right? While we continued to plan the work to the condo, I had a small job that I needed done at my new home: I had an electrician in last week to install a new wall outlet for a TV, but they significantly damaged the vapor barrier behind the wall in the process. It was very important to me that this got fixed properly because a damaged vapor barrier can have long term consequences (rot, mould, etc.). I sent Greg a note on Saturday (New Years Day). I didn’t expect him to respond until the end of the weekend, but he responded pretty much immediately. I explained that we had painters coming in on Monday so if timing could work out such that this job could get done before the painters arrive, it’d be gold. He said he could come out the following day!! (a Sunday even, of all days!!) Greg arrived punctually and fully prepared. He asked for a lot of details ahead of time to make sure he had everything he needed before he arrived. I expressed my concerns about having this repaired to the same standard that would be found in a new build home. He said he appreciated my attention to detail and assured me it would be done exactly as I wanted it. He talked me through what he was going to do, listened to my feedback and asked me to inspect the job along the way to ensure it met my expectations. The job was perfect. He cleaned up after himself, was very tidy and very meticulous. Everything he did and how he did it stood up to the story he told. Greg is the real deal. To be honest, I’d be fibbing if I said I wasn’t a bit selfishly remiss to write this review, because as much as I want to see Greg succeed in his pursuits, I also want to make sure he’s never too busy to help me out again. Alas, the more people who meet him, the busier he’ll be. I’m sure of that. And that doesn’t work well for me :p I feel like I got really lucky finding Greg. I’m sure you will too.
