the job started off as a full interior paint job with a room of wall paper that needed to be stripped. During the wall paper stripping it was discovered that the walls underneath were totally in need of a special layer to make it presentable and durable. It was decided the cement walls would be coated with drywall sheeting, taped and finished off. This was to prevent the cement walls from continuing to crumble. Two walls were affected and one after drywall was turned into a feature wall with porcelain tiles that look like barn boards and tiled the master bedroom headboard wall. Everything went very smoothly with the wall reworks and the paint job on everything is perfect!! Thanks for a job very well done from both my wife and I. If you want a company that puts its customers first and foremost you will want to contact this company for sure. Oh and he was so confident that everything was going to be done right there was no request for any deposit. Pay at the end when satisfied he said. I found this to be exceptional as for confidence and workmanship not to mention trustworthiness upfront. John H.

A&A Masonry Saved Our Front Entrance: Our front entrance walkway pad and staircase were in a mess. This was due to a previous coating of thin stamped concrete that didn’t last more than 3 years before it started to chip and flake. We had been conned a number of years back by a guy who sold us on this stamped look except it didn’t last. It was too thin a coating we found out over time. On May 24 weekend I rented a medium sized electric Power Chisel and within 4 hours had the entire pad area cleared and all the entrance area and anything that would come off the steps as well. Now our challenge was to find a new coating that could go over the bare cement areas as well as the areas of the old coating that wouldn’t come off. It was extremely important that this next coating be right and last for a long time through harsh winters and extremely hot summers at times here in Toronto. I did extensive research on the Web and found many options that sounded right; but I knew wouldn’t cover all substrates successfully for the long term. A particular process and material that did catch my eye was called “Rubaroc”. It had Canadian Authorized dealers so I contacted the one for my area here in Etobicoke; A&A Masonry. I was told someone would call me from the sales department to arrange to come over to my home to review the job required. I think it was the very same afternoon I received a phone call from a man named “Dan” and we set up a time to visit my home the next day and review the job scope. We reviewed all details of the materials, life expectancy, maintenance, repair if ever required etc. This material I realized I had seen many times around pools at hotels during my and my wife’s travels. After a couple minor adjustments to the quote I was confident we had the right process and material that would cover all our surfaces and revitalize our badly needed entrance. Another very important detail in our negotiation was that A&A Masonry didn’t want any payment whatsoever until we were happy with the final product. This showed me their utmost confidence in their product and people doing their work. It was a timing game with the weather for this product and process and our time came with a phone call and later that day the crew Matt, Paul, and a helper I’m sorry I have forgotten his name arrived. We quickly reviewed the job and let the guys go at it. They knew what they had to do and got right down to business with the layout of our highlight area around the front of the walkway pad, applying the bonding agent, and mixing up their first batch of material for application. Later that afternoon “Dan” showed up to see how things were going and touch base with the guys. The day was HOT and they motored on while my wife and I continuously checked to see if they needed anything to drink; water, pop, juices. Later we decided that they had been at the work long enough that we felt we should get them something to eat; so we got them a couple Pizzas. These guys were great! They got the job done that day right about dusk and just in time to clean up everything. No discussions about money were brought up by them at all. A couple days later we received a follow up phone call from “Dan” to arrange a time to come over and see the final product and how it all turned out. We met a day or so later and told him how beautiful it all turned out and We Couldn’t Have Picked a Better Company or Product for our application. Our entrance and front of our house has been totally changed for the better!! Thank You Very Much Darren, Dan, Matt, Paul and Helper And all at A&A Masonry John & Glenda

In a few short words; DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY!!! AND DEFINITELY DON'T CONTRACT THEM TO DO ANY WORK THAT INCLUDES ANY INSTALLATION!!! In mid December we contracted and gave a $1,000.00 deposit for this company to supply and install a set of frameless shower doors in our newly renovated master bathroom. A representative came in mid December and took measurements of the shower door opening area. The glass panels (doors) were to be ready for install in mid January 2013. At the end of January we called to find out what the current status was regarding the installation timing and were told that they would have to get back to us. In early February the doors were ready for installation. When they came to install, there were two men, one was their installation supervisor (Joe) with his helper (Joel). They commenced opening all the components and checking off the parts list to confirm everything was there. They did not bring any drop cloths to put down over our brand new porcelain Carrera marble tiles as well as the new "Maxx" shower basin. As a result of this, they dropped components and caused chips in the floor tiles and the shower basin. Another very important item they didn't bring were any type of step stool to allow them to work at eye level where they needed to, which was an issue as the header bar for the doors was to be installed at approximately 78 inches above the floor level. They incorrectly drilled the holes in the wall for the header bar, which caused the door to keep rolling open. They had to make additional holes in the wall tiles to correct this, and they were unable to complete the installation as they incorrectly cut the header bar (twice) and could no longer use it so they had to re-order a new one. Approximately 1-2 weeks later they came back to complete the installation. After the install was complete, and we finally got to use our new shower, it leaked! Not just a little, a lot! We were unaware that they should have added a plastic water guard strip between the two doors. We also ended up needing a strip along the bottom of the door, and the front of the door. Their lead installer Joe admitted to us that this was only the 2nd set of this type of shower doors they had ever installed and he didn't know how to fix the leakage problem! We had to basically tell them how to fix it and they had to have the door guide modified to accommodate the bottom door seal. Although the doors no longer leak, the strip along the bottom rubs against the door guide as they did not install the door guide straight, and as a result the bottom door seal is being slowly shaven away where it rubs against the door guide on one side. Shower Door Canada was supposed to drop off an additional strip for us to keep as a back up. To date, we have not received it! Since they have the balance of their money, it's most likely we will never see it! Toni, one of the principal owners of Shower Door Canada insisted on being paid the balance owing before he would even solve our leakage problem, and provide the additional bottom door strip, basically holding us hostage, collecting our money before the issues were resolved! Very Poor Customer Service to say the least!!!! Update Sept. 2013: To this date we have not received the spare bottom door seal as promised by Tony from Shower Door Canada , and we have now found the shower guard glass on the sliding door is on the wrong side of the glass as they originally thought when they arrived to install the system; as well the door continues to slide slightly out of alignment. Just to be sure everyone understands we were never in consultation with this "Joe" the "Install Manager"; nor was he ever at our home to see the site and requirements as was stated by "Tony" until after they arrived to complete the install and even at that time he did not raise any concerns until they had made errors and multiple drill holes in our wall tiles for the upper track rail. Then they laid blame on the door system.

As a proud owner of Shower Door of Canada since 1985 I am proud to say that we have successfully completed thousands of installations for satisfied customers over the years.

Try as we may it is not always possible for every job to be perfect and some customers prove to be harder to satisfy than others no matter the length you may go to satisfy them.

Mr. H's shower was on a very narrow shower pan and the frameless shower door selected by the customer was not ideal for the situation. The custom shower door selected was a new product design, which the client specifically insisted we used against the words of wisdom by Joe our Installation Manager because he was afraid there could be leakage due to the narrow shower, The door proved to be particularly difficult to seal in such a narrow configuration. In actual fact we successfully custom fabricated a bottom guide specifically to accomodate a seal that would keep the water inside.

At the end of the day we gave the customer a discount to secure final payment, offered to give him an extra sweep at no charge, custom fabricated a part to make the shower seal properly and in general bent over backwards to achieve best results.

We were very disappointed to get this vindictive review and continue to strive to provide the best possible products, installation and customer service.
