I picked Maid4Condos due to the exemplary reviews I saw on homestars and Google. Now that I look into it further it seems some other people have given similar reviews. Regardless, I wanted to share my experience so that more people are aware of the faults in this service. It is not meant to be in an angry or spiteful way, but as honest, negative feedback to this company and the services they provide.
Tenants moved from our unit and left quite a mess but empty condo. We are reasonable people and understand nothing is ever cleaned 100% but nonetheless we picked the "move in and out" clean. Which is the top tier service they offer, even more so than the "deep" clean. The website boasts a very long and extensive checklist for what is offered in the move in/out clean. We figured we could hire maid4condos and then do a deeper clean ourselves afterwards. What we didn't expect is to spend the next 7 days cleaning.
I will provide the "cleaning checklist" that is on their website
Bathrooms:
- bathtub and shower (yes)
- inside, out and behind the toilet (inside/out toilet was cleaned, behind/surrounding was not)
- lights mirrors, sink, counter tops (yes)
- vacuum ceiling fan cover (no, pics attached)
- light switches, door knobs (no doorknobs were cleaned in our entire unit, we could easily see stains on them and feel grime)
- empty garbage bin (none to empty)
- vacuum/mop floors (no, didn't do any vacuuming, found lots of bits all over our floors, have videos walking around the unit with our shoes sticking to the ground and making peeling noises - needless to say, no mopping was done)
- wipe baseboards (no)
Bedrooms
- dusting (nothing to dust)
- mirrors/ornaments (condo was empty)
- wipe switches/door knobs (no)
- vacuum/mop (same as bathroom/entire unit, no)
- wipe baseboards (no)
- wipe window ledges (no)
Kitchen (positive notes here)
- inside fridge and oven (yes! great job on the oven)
- stove top (yes)
- fridge polish (its built in the cabinet, nothing to polish)
- microwave inside (yes)
- backsplash, counter, cupboard fronts (no, yes, no)
- sink (yes)
- light switches/door knobs (no)
- vacuum/mop (no)
- baseboards (no)
- window ledges (no)
- inside cabinets (no)
- inside drawers (no)
living room/dining room
- mirrors, ornaments, switches, door knobs, vacuum/mop, baseboards, windows (all no)
laundry room (completely ignored this tiny room)
- clear air vent, clear lint trap, wipe washer dryer, clean floors (all no)
This condo is 700 sqft. Not big by any means, but as you can see from the above checklist, when we walked into what we thought would be a pretty good cleaning, we were sorely disappointed. Having taken a look around we kept our shoes on and walked through the unit, promptly contacting the company again. They asked for pictures and told us that vacuuming sometimes doesn't get the vents clean, I agreed but showing the pictures we both knew these were not even bothered to be vacuumed. Since our entire unit was never vacuumed, why would they have done the vents? They promised to send back someone the next day to vacuum and mop, and clean the laundry room. Thanks for that.
So positive points:
- responsive, on time, convenient, oven was nicely cleaned
Negatives:
- 85% of the checklist not completed, had to contact them again to get simple things like vacuuming, mopping, cleaning a room that was missed entirely (and its the size of a closet).
I know my pictures don't show a lot, but its hard to show un-mopped/unclean floors and doorknobs. We have spent 4 hours each weekday after work cleaning this condo and 6-8 hours sat/sun this weekend to clean as well. We had hoped professional cleaners would do a better job. The whole thing felt like a transaction, they kept mentioning "hours" but I paid a very high flat fee to get the best cleaning service they offered. And if I was paying hourly I could have hired someone for 10 hours paying $25/hr, instead I received mediocre service for maybe 2-3 hours and paid $255.
I would not recommend this to anyone, had I paid for a basic clean I would understand, but their best package was very, very far off the mark here.
