Smitty comes across as a knowledgeable appliance dealer but in our case, took advantage of a person on disability. He sold a “new” fridge retailed for $799.99 at the outrageous price of $ 1095. The fridge was delivered in the back of a pickup truck, not even in a box. Not allowing us to help put it in place. Upon moving the fridge 6 months later to paint the wall, we found cosmetic damage on the fridge (the back was crimping as if dropped). Immediately we phoned Smitty as to what could be done, as the fridge was still under warranty. Smitty advised he never sells damaged appliances. He blamed the damage on poor insulation and I should call Frigidaire Customer Service (encouraging me to act as a lawyer). He also advised that he just received a new fridge with the same problem. (I guess another customer will get that one for his FAIR price also). When the repair Tech arrived, he advised that the fridge was damaged badly by a fall and he sighted further damage that we didn’t even see. The service technician took photos and sent them directly to Frigidaire advising us they were good and would certainly take care of us. Unfortunately, Frigidaire doesn’t warrant any ‘cosmetic’ damage unless it’s reported to them before 30 days. Now we know why Smitty wouldn’t allow us to move the appliance into place. Smitty as slick as he is had us busy paying him while his young helper backs the damage against the wall so as it’s not noticeable until it was too late.
