Our HORRIBLE experience with PL Skylight, Roof & Windows We decided to change one of windows in our house, and we chose company "PL skylight, roof & windows" (short for PL in the below text) for the service. It turns out to be a big mistake and we are totally disappointed with PL. PL is the worst company we have ever seen. Below is the whole story. We have invited 3 window companies for the quote at the end of April. PL's price was in the middle, CAD 850+ compared with the cheapest quoting 700+. But we chose PL because: 1) PL said they can finish the job within 2 weeks' time while the company with cheapest quoting said we have to wait a month; 2) PL has higher rating (9.7) on the homestar.com compared to the other one with 9.4. We want to change the window ASAP so we decided to go with PL at the end. BTW, another reason is PL's boss Lisa is Chinese and we thought it would be good if we chinese hire chinese. We paid 40% of deposit to PL on May 1st and PL promised us the job would be done in two weeks. We waited until middle of May but nobody from PL called to tell us the progress. I called PL only to be told that they are busy and our window can only be done at the end of May. We were not happy but we tolerated and said ok and agreed with them the job would be done on June 1st. However, by the end of May, still nobody told us what's going on. I called again and again only to be told to wait and wait. Finally I called and insisted that I need to know the progress. Only then they told me the window is not ready and I have to wait until June 9th. We started to regret that we should choose the other company at the beginning. On Sat, June 9th, one PL installer finally showed up at our door at 11am, 2 hours later than scheduled. He started to knock down our original window with very loud noise while my 9 month baby was sleeping. After he knock down the window he even ask my husband's help to carry the very heavy new window to the 2nd floor (which is supposed to be done with PL's own professional staff). Only at that time PL guy found out that the window is NOT the right size!!! Nobody in PL has ever checked the window before they knock down our original window!!! There was a big hole on our wall and it was going to rain that day. PL said they have to re-order the window and we have to wait another week. Regarding to the hole, they covered it with a big dirty wood board and sealed it with a nasty smell chemical. There was no light at all in our house and it looked like a jail in the hell!!! It was really hot those days and we could not even turn on the air-con because of the nasty smell. My 9 month baby could not sleep well and even have to breath in the nasty chemical!!! It was an unbearable week for us. We keep pushing PL to install the window and finally they corrected it on June 15th, which is already SIX weeks from the day we ordered!!!! We are really disappointed by PL's service, and we negotiated with PL for discount, not because we are cheap person, we just want to express our dissatisfaction. There is no way that we should pay the higher amount of cost for the worse service. However, Lisa, PL's boss, every time SHOUTED to me that it was not their fault, and we should be THANKFUL to them because she did not let us wait in darkness for another 3 weeks to make the new window. Today she called me again, SHOUTING and SCREAMING in the phone again. My baby was scared to cry. When I told her that I am going to write my review to the homestar, she said:" write whatever you like, none of my business!". She said she does not care about my review on the website since nobody will care about it. I said I care and I chose PL based on the rating and it was a big mistake for me. You know what she said? She said that is my mistake and I have to pay price for MY WRONG CHOICE!!!!! How UNREASONABLE is this woman??? At the end, she even THREATEN to remove the window from my house!!! I hung up the phone because I do not want to fight with an unreasonable woman in front of my baby. There were too many bad memories with PL. I do not have time to write them all here. It is 11pm now and I should be sleeping with my baby after a tiring day. But I was feel so upset and hurt that I could not sleep. I must write down our HORRIBLE experience with PL and let those people who CARE about the ratings like me know what a TERRIBLE company PL is!

Hi, we are disappointed to read this review, however we always learn from our mistakes. PL Skylights worked very hard to satisfy this homeowner (as we do for all of our clients), Unfortunately, sometimes there are circumstances that we cannot predict such as an unusually high demand for our products and services. In terms of our installers, insuring that the we have the best professionals in the industry means that it take time to find those installers that can perform to our standards. Sometimes that means we don't have all the people we need to meet the growing demand. Please read our other reviews for a balance depiction of how other customers feel about their PL experience.
