Took out a wall between hallway and kitchen, opened up the whole first floor. A big Island makes the room much more functional. The custom cabinet company they use were great to work with and made a quality product. McLaren Homes was professional, easy to talk to, willing to make some modifications along the way. They really tried to understand our vision for the space, and our needs, and then they made it happen. Would definitely recommend McLaren Homes.

Thank you for the review and I agree about the big island being much more functional for that space. In the older kitchen layouts it is so common to have the kitchens feel small and closed in from walls that block it off from the rest of the house. By removing the wall to the hallway and bringing the island into that space, it gave you WAY more room for meal prep, a place to eat and entertain, more storage, as well the kitchen now flows more into the rest of the house and dinning area.
