We worked with Steve Boase from Boase Design on a full, two storey renovation of a 100 year old house. Our renovation included the installation of new floors and tiling throughout; repositioning of plumbing and electrical in the kitchen and bathroom to make better use of the existing space; removal of walls; creation of new storage space; design and installation of a modern glass stair case and updates to the exterior of the house including a new railing and barrier wall. Steve provided a detailed quote and contract that outlined both a low and high estimate for the project. He also provided a detailed work schedule which he stuck to along with the provision of weekly email updates on all progress made. Throughout the project, Steve was very proactive at communicating decisions that needed to be made including cost and time implications associated with these decisions. This was the first renovation that we have been involved with, and as such we had numerous questions throughout. Steve was very responsive to each of these questions and issues as they arose and he always made the changes we requested even if it meant undoing something that had just been completed. As an added benefit, Steve also provided a number of design suggestions for various aspects of the project that we followed and are very happy with (e.g. a custom made walnut island in the kitchen). We have now moved back into the “new” house and we are thrilled with the results. We love the house and would certainly use Steve again for future projects. We would also refer him without reservation to others and have already done so.
