Stoneybrook Contracting was hired by myself and surrounding neighbors to complete a fence project in our backyards in July 2018. Stoneybrook insisted to begin the project, he needed money upfront. The neighbors (over 10 houses) and I agreed to pay for the work in three installments. After the first installment was paid, there were multiple delays and Stoneybrook insisted another installment was needed to begin. After paying another installment, Stoneybrook finally began work in September 2018. When work commenced, Stoneybrook created damage to our properties and ruined all the neighbors backyards with equipment and material. Once winter came, Stoneybrook claimed that they would not be able to complete the project in time and he would return in the spring of 2019 to complete the work and fix the damages the company created on our properties. In April 2019, Stoneybrook claimed they couldn’t continue with the work and agreed to return the deposits taken from myself and the neighbors. Over the next few months, myself and the neighbors were patient and tried endlessly to call, email and work with Stoneybrook to have the funds returned. From investigated Stoneybrooks social media pages, Stoneybrook had multiple posts/photos of the company still working on other projects in Barrie, ON. We managed to discover that our funds were used to purchase a brand new pickup truck over the winter. Still to date, Stoneybrook has not returned our deposits and has kept the money. This company is a sham. It is disappointing that contractors like this still exist. Please stay away from Stoneybrook Contracting.
