I like Figaro's garden because they carry Westcoast Seeds, Renee's Garden seeds and other heirloom and organic seeds. They also have a nice selection of soil amendments and organic fertilizers. These products are not cheap but they are of good quality. Staff are generally not overly friendly but they are knowledgeable. Be warned, though, this is not exactly a kid-friendly space! There are many pretty, breakable garden ornaments packed into a small space so bringing your toddler or preschooler in there to shop with you can be a stressful experience.

I'm so happy this place is right in my neighbourhood. I buy almost all of my gardening supplies here, including organic and non-GMO, heirloom seeds (like EYA Urban Seeds). I also come here for small household hardware items and there is always someone available to help if I have a question. I would go here over a big-box hardware store any day.

The Peg General Store is one of my favourite places to shop for antique and vintage furniture in Vancouver. You are pretty much guaranteed to find something special there. It's not your typical 'antique' store, or 'vintage' store either - it's much less pretentious and more interesting. On a given day you might find beautiful wooden antique pieces, stained-glass windows, funky retro pieces, collectibles that look straight out of grandma's house and oddities (mirror with ram horn hooks or a picture of the Taj Mahal that lights up, anyone?). This is a great place to treasure-hunt and find something truly unique at an affordable price. The staff are friendly enough and curbside delivery is free. They also do great refinishing work on antique furniture.
