Sunbury Fencing and Decking

The quote provided was competitive and the work exceptional. Wade was personable and highly skilled - we love our new fence and so does our dog. Thank you for the excellent work and service.

Needed a new fence, so on word of mouth and reading reviews decided to go with Sunbury.

It was a strange experience, the first person we dealt with had great ideas, but apparently did not include enough information in the quote for the workers to proceed. We then found out that he was no longer with the company and a new person was sent out to re-quote us. The new person was much more thorough and we decided to proceed with the new quote.

Fence tear down:
- done quickly during the first 2 days
- was messy, old fence posts, nails and rocks were left scattered about the property and surrounding sidewalks

New fence build:
- It took a long time to get the new fence posts in. Granted there were a few rainy days, but there were other days where the workers didn't even show up, resulting in lost days of work. Because of this, a few of them were fired apparently bringing the number of workers down to 2 (instead of about 5)
- They did not re-staff the team, the remaining 2 workers were left to finish the entire fence. Thankfully these 2 workers worked extremely hard, late nights and weekends, to finish the work. For that I'm gratefull.
- Because it was only 2 people doing the job (actually almost 1, the other was being loaned from another job when he had the time) There were several pieces that were not installed at all, or installed incorrectly requiring a return visit (by a different worker).

Build quality:
- Overall, I'd give the quality of the work about a 7/10.
- The standard fence panels, with vertical ceder boards joined to a horizontal top rail was built fairly well, and they did a good job building and adjusting to the different terrain heights.
- The 'show' fence which featured horizontally spaced boards seemed underbuilt and is coming apart after only a few months.

Customer support/communication:
- Overall they were fairly easy to reach, however it's always a guessing game weather or not the person you're dealing with will remain employed. Just found out the second person we dealt with for getting the quote is also no longer with them.
- Started getting emails to finish paying, prior to the job getting completed. However once I told the person who sent me the email this, they apologized and waited until the job was done.
- I am trying to contact them about the portions of the fence that are falling apart already, but have not heard back from them yet, so I will reserve comment on their '1 year labor warranty' until that is sorted out.


Overall, would I recommend them? I don't know.

A quote was provided in a timely manner and within budget. Removal and installation dates was affected by staff holidays.
An issue occurred and company took responsibility to resolve it promptly.

We needed a new shed. Sunbury Cedar was quickly able to give us information and also come out and look at our space. When it was time for the installation the installer was experienced and friendly and even made little garden boxes for our kids. The completed project looks great!

We had excellent customer service. All inquiries were handled promptly. We were amazed at how fast the fence was installed and the quality of the workmanship. Would highly recommend Sunbury Cedar.

Our old fence blew down in a storm and Sunbury removed the old fence and rebuilt a new fence. The workmanship was exceptional and they completed in on time and on budget.

I needed to fence up an area of my property that was needing security as well as removal of an existing fence attached to a neighbour's gate that was attached to my house. Sunbury Cedar did an awesome job. Thanks to Al, Jim and Doug for their patience with me while I changed plans 3 times and made them reinstall fence posts 3 times because I cannot read a survey certificate to save my life. They got the job done and their customer service was amazing. I will call them again in the fall to replace another fence and will recommend them to everyone!

Sunbury repaired a fence that started to lean significantly after being installed incorrectly. They did an excellent job - the fence is now properly supported in the ground and is much straighter than it used to be. Thank you!

After delaying the inevitable for far too long, we called Sunbury to replace our collapsing cedar fence in the backyard. We got several quotes, all of which were higher than Sunbury's, which I think may be because they are the manufacturer, so have an advantage over the competition. They came as soon as weather permitted (there was a snow storm) and did the job professionally, finishing after dark on a Friday afternoon. We assumed the remaining junk from our old fence would hang around all weekend, and were stunned and delighted when a team showed up to clear it way on a Friday night. The fence looks absolutely spectacular. The service was exceptionally professional and the price was great. They even accommodated a jig around a tree that crosses the property line, but which we didn't want to remove. We could not be happier or recommend Sunbury more highly.

Severed the wiring for my in ground sprinklers and tried to hide it in concrete. Costs hundreds to repair, and they refused to pay for it. They strung me along for almost 3 months until I've finally had to take them to court. Also, fence boards had big gaps, 2 fence posts were split, and they didn't finish the job for weeks after they promised to do so. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
