Terrible. I used Quick Movers for my past two moves and they were phenomenal. It made sense, therefore, to hire them again. But after speaking with customer service and management, I learned the company got acquired by HomeMore and suddenly, our mental duress all made sense.
There are many things I could say. In short, we are incredibly angry and disappointed. Read on if you want more details, but TLDR: go with someone else unless you love paying hundreds to undergo stress and trauma.
Previously, they sent three guys, a huge truck, tarps, covers, and dollies to move one bedroom, a couch, and a TV. So why on earth would they send two youngsters with poor spatial awareness, no covers, a UHAUL truck, a single dolly, and a general sense of weariness to move an entire three bedroom apartment? The math isnt mathing. I even spoke with the guys so I could understand the situation. They were inexperienced and had no idea what was going on. On top of that, they arrived late and asked me for water lmao. We were going to offer some anyway but if your job involves physical labour, surely youd know to bring water?
Despite having quick in the name, they moved at a snails pace, going over our quoted hours. They ignored all the signage and labels, and we had to helicopter-parent them because they were putting things in the wrong places. If we didnt watch them, they would stand there and chat. Once, they didnt expect me to be waiting for them outside the elevator because they were resting their feet on our things and immediately took them off when they saw me. And as a result of them packing the truck poorly and without any strategic thinking, they had to make two trips. On the second trip, I insisted on going back with them in the truck. Im glad I did because I literally saw them type the wrong address into the GPS, despite having been there only two hours ago.
I saw them try and jam my table through a door frame that was clearly not wide enough. I witnessed them scratch my walls by casually swinging things around. I watched them drop a bed frame. I think I started laugh-crying a bit at one point because I couldnt believe what was happening.
We had to follow them around to make sure they did their jobs. And when we were forced to realize that we couldnt trust them to do things properly and efficiently, we started moving things ourselves. Yes, you read correctly. We hired movers but did the work ourselves. Youd laugh-cry too.
Oh, you thought that was it? When I called their team, the manager, Sylvester aka Bob, was unresponsive and unhelpful. I had to have multiple calls with him, which wouldnt have been necessary if the movers actually did a good job, and he would keep me on the phone and talk about his personal life. He also tried to blame things on us, saying we didnt provide a thorough item breakdown but we did and it was all in the quote. Did I mention he called me from a US number? I was paying long distance charges to discuss fees that were never mentioned in our quote, which was provided by someone who apparently left the company. We eventually settled on 10 less than the number he insisted on so I could cover some of my phone bill. Bob would go onto tell me how theyre going to train the movers, etc. but failed to properly rectify our current situation. He kept bringing up my past movers, Greg and Obi, and their situation, but that wasnt relevant to what was happening in real time. He would also not call me back at our agreed-upon times, saying he had to close some deals, and delay our calls. Bob, if youre reading this, be better, that was unprofessional. Greg and Obi, please call me and I will hire you myself next time.
I understand that at the end of the day, they are just people with their own problems. I get it. But wow, Im still processing how we paid someone a lot of money to make them our problems too.
As for our household, we agreed to never speak of this again so we can black out this memory and leave it behind us.
As for you, choose someone else. Anyone else.
