Who knew renovations could be this pleasant?

From the moment I requested a quote through Homestars, things were already looking up. Abe replied within less than half an hour that he was interested in the job and he came over a few days later. He listened to our needs and wants, made some suggestions, and, just as importantly, wasn't shy about telling us that something just wouldn't work or make sense in our situation. This frank discussion would be the first of many, and immediately showed 2 important things: that he takes even the small-to-medium size jobs just as seriously as the big ones and that he was very pleasant to talk to.

The job itself wasn't supposed to be anything special: replacing a vinyl floor with tiles, swapping an old hardwood floor with a new one, re-doing a small powder room, taking down old kitchen cabinets and replacing them with better ones along with a new small corner counter, plus a variety of small touch-ups to improve the main floor of this 50-year-old condo townhouse. A quote was written, updated after a couple of chats, an approximate start date was set, we purchased the flooring material to be used (after running it by Abe to make sure it would work out), and then we waited for our time to arrive, which was supposed to be in the early part of 2022, but some issues came up and Abe was able to swap our job with the one that was scheduled after ours, which helped greatly. Numerous other phone and email discussions took place during the waiting period to confirm the kitchen cabinets style and that everything was still on schedule.

When the time finally came for the work to start, Abe came over one last time a few days before to confirm everything and have that last walkthrough. Of course, before you can have the construction you need to have the demolition. For two days, Abe along with his right-hand man, Marc, and Miguel ripped out everything that had to go, and this is when a few interesting discoveries about the way one of the big-name builders built homes back in the 70s came to light. After the demolition, Abe and Marc prepared the floors for their makeover. This step required a lot of work to overcome the shoddy construction work by the aforementioned builder and sections of the sub-floor needed to be replaced altogether. While everything turned out great with the renovations, the tile work is where Abe really showed his dedication to getting the job done right. Uneven joists and crooked walls meant that he had to take extra care to make the floor as even and straight as possible.

The subcontractor Abe uses to install the hardwood floors was next and did a great (and VERY fast) job. The same can be said about the cabinet-maker who built and installed the new cabinets in the kitchen. Over the course of a couple of weeks, the Awesome Duo then took care of the rest of the work, including the baseboards and trims. Another awesome aspect of Abe's work ethic and willingness to help is the many, small requests that we dropped on him over the course of the renovations. The toilet in the basement even started leaking and Abe didn't hesitate to look at it, let me know that it was a goner and replaced it even though it wasn't part of the scheduled work. He even went to Home Depot with me to pick up the new toilet and bring it home in his van, along with the bathroom vanity. Anything to help us out, he was willing to do.

And so 3 weeks after the start of the demolition, the work was done. Abe even reached out to some of his contacts at our request and scheduled a full house cleaning with some cleaners he knows.

Throughout the entirety of the renovations, we never felt nervous about how the work was coming along, we had a blast interacting with Abe and Marc (Miguel was only present for the demolition but was also fun to chat with) and we are ALMOST sad (almost) that it had to end so soon. Abe even brought us lunch on his last day. We have already discussed our next renovations and I won't even look elsewhere. Abe has my business for anything and everything else we need done. Hire him for your next renovations, you will NOT be disappointed.

Major Reno's

My wife and I were looking to finally complete some much needed renovations. We wanted to add a new room as our family was growing as well as have the flooring, paint (including ceiling) trim, baseboards, new doors and some electrical done. Living in a bungalow, the only room that was untouched was the kitchen so too us, this was a major renovation.

We received quotes from several different companies (some from Homestars and others from different sources) and decided to go with Arama Reno's. Abe (the owner) is what sold us on Arama. He was very pleasant to talk to, listened to what we wanted, didn't try to upsell things we didn't need and provided recommendations/insight on how to maximize space and save some money.

The job started on time and Abe and Marc (his right hand man) where always on time, reachable for any questions and extremely polite and respectful throughout the time it took to complete the job. They were even amazing with our 3 year old son when he got home from daycare.

All in all, the job took approximately 5 weeks to complete and everything that was needed was completed to perfection and the agreed upon price from the quote never changed (as we didn't add last minute tasks to the job).

We have a complete remodel of 3 washrooms in the near future as well as a complete kitchen renovation some time down the road from that. We will not be getting quotes from any other companies for those job. Arama Renos, Abe and Marc have made the decision easy for us. Those jobs are definitely theirs.

If anyone is looking at renovations; big, small or anything in between, do yourself a favour and go with Arama, it'll be the best decision you can ever make. It sure was for us.

Thanks Arama Renos (Abe). We'll be seeing you again very soon.

Basement Finishing

Abe and his team completely finished our basement and did a awesome job. They started with an empty basement and built us a large recreation room with built in oak shelves and a brick veneer entranceway, a bedroom (to code), a bathroom, a hall way with more built in oak shelves, a storage/mechanical room, a pantry, and several closets. He also replaced all the basement windows, replaced the carpet on our main staircase, replaced all our door handles and various light fixtures on the main and second floor.

Abe did a great job managing the multiple sub-contractors and inspectors and kept the job moving with very minimal delays. When issues arose he was on top of them and worked with us to get them resolved right away. The job was completed in a timely manner (it was a little longer than expected as we added the built in shelves and brick veneer entranceway after the project had started).

Abe was very communicative, friendly, listened to our ideas and made sound suggestions. I would totally recommend Abe and Marc (and have done so already).

Front step reno

He covered cement steps and post with synthetic and natural boards. I was happy with the result until realizing he'd left one side undone. He said he would return to finish the job but that was last year. Don't think he's coming back. Now i'll have to pay someone else to finish the job.

Dear Beth, you have all the right to be disappointed, so sorry it was delayed this much, we were overwhelmingly busy but that's no excuse. Please accept our apology and kindly confirm if you would allow us to come over on August 30 to finish the left side of the stairs.

Basement Reno

We are totally satisfied with the work Abe and his crew (but mostly Abe because of COVID) did to transform our basement into an open area where we can enjoy TV and other activities. Abe is a conscientious renovator. He offered suggestions when we were planning the reno and throughout the rebuild. He also asked us how we wanted certain things done to ensure we got everything we wanted done.
Abe himself is a joy to talk to. He even brought us some Lebanese (his place of birth) delicacies to try. We enjoyed talking to him throughout the renovation. We highly recommend him for renovation work.

Basement Finishing

Abe finished our basement, as well as work on two sets of stairs. Considering the restrictions in place with Covid, the process was incredibly smooth. He also provided excellent advice on what needed to be done, catching things we may have missed. Always communicative, friendly and patient with us newbies! We would 100% recommend Abe time and time again, and look forward to future projects.

Bathroom and basement renos

Abe and his team did a great job first by installing a french door, and continuing with our main bathroom, and now the basement. Even before starting, Abe was well communication and helping us decide on the vanity (for a 94 inch wall) which was very hard to find and fit into the space. Also, he suggested great materials, good deals, that look stunning when installed. With his suggestions, we are able to have beautiful spaces on a budget. Abe is professional, hard working, with great taste in decoration and attention to details.
I will highly recommend Abe for your next renos, big or small!

Basement renos

Abe and his team redid our basement and my office room, as well as basement stairs. They removed carpet from both areas. He and his team did a great job throughout the house. They built a subfloor in our basement under the new flooring. This made it a lot more comfortable and much warmer to walk on than previous carpet flooring. Our new stairs is beautiful and solid wood. He transformed our house for a very reasonable price and we could not be happier. Abe and his team worked with us in ideas and suggestions throughout the whole process and respected our budget conscientious approach while still maintaining high quality work. We will be using his team again, and I would recommend him without hesitation. Not to mention that during current unprecedented times of living through a pandemic. Abe and his team followed public health guidance as needed to keep us all safe. Great company and team to work with and Abe always offered great advice and suggestions. Thanks Abe, we are loving the new look to our house, and we look forward to having you do more of our renovations in the future.

front step renovation

Arama Renos transformed our crumbling front steps into a beautiful porch, complete with handrails, beam and column, lifted and reset our patio stones -- on time and on budget. Abe was very personable, explained the process and different options, arrived as scheduled and cleaned up at the end of each of the 2 days. We are very happy with the result and I'm sure this work has greatly increased the value of our home.
