Great Company, Reliable, Excellent Communication and Work

We enlisted HandyHome for a large backyard renovation and couldn't have been happier with the results. Very fair prices and great communication made the job easy and straightforward. I would definitely recommend getting a quote from them if you're exploring a larger project at your home.

Good Work Poor on Communication and Showing Up

When they did finally finish, they did a good job but they cancelled and rescheduled so many times I changed the rating to a 7.
I needed to have my laundry area in a condominium restructured so more room to fit in my washer, a base so slightly higher off the floor and new doors to maximize space.
The visit for the initial estimation went well except a different person turned up than who I was originally told would be there and he had been given a time half an hour before the time I was given. However, as he was almost half an hour late, it worked out OK. And he did call me to let me know he was late which I liked.
Could not do what I originally wanted but had good alternative suggestions. Original estimate came promptly. But I wanted an alternative estimate with doors that went up to the ceiling. Took about a week for second estimate to come and kept on being told would come next day. But then did come, decided to ask for custom doors that were about 95" high rather the standard 72" even though did cost more and would take longer for doors to come.
Installation would be done in two stages. First stage, put in base, and move support for board under dryer so more room for washer.
Came on date and at expected time. Good. Did what had to be done except paint took longer to dry than expected so base paint messed up when old washer put back. But as also buying new washer, I said not to worry about repainting base until new washer had come. One worker sort of grumpy about doing what had to be done but did do it.
Then had to wait for new washer which was from completely different company. Came and installed by different company and fit well in restructured space.
Then had to wait for new doors from HandyHome to arrive.
Here was when all the delays started.
I was repeatedly given dates and then told on the day would be another date.
Originally told could be installed Aug. 3 or 4. I asked for Aug. 4.
Told on Aug. 3 at 10 am would let me know installation time for Aug. 4 by 10:15 a.m.
Told 1:00 pm Aug. 3 would not be Aug. 4 but would let me know by end of day installation time for Friday, Aug. 5.
Then told Aug. 4 would be Tuesday, Aug. 9.
Called Aug. 9 when not there and told would be August 11. Had been death in family which of course I understood but I still think main office should have told me. And then were repeated postponements with different excuses.
On August 11 told wrong doors had been delivered but would be installed Aug. 12. On Aug. 12 told would be Aug. 15. Note these dates had been confirmed by email.
On Aug. 15 told needed two people so would be Aug. 17.
On Aug. 17 did finally come and removed washer and repainted door base. And workers very pleasant people.
But had forgotten "door jam" so had to send someone out to buy it from Home Depot which was further delay and door jam wider than original custom made door jam so doors needed retrimming. Plus they realized walls not completely straight (which is not unusual) so doors would not hang right and doors would need to be retrimmed. Decided best idea was to take doors away so could be trimmed properly in their shop.
I did not want my washer put back until base had properly dried.
To give credit, one of the workers who lived relatively near me, came back in evening and put washer back on dry base, and put first coat on door jams and door stop.
Then he came back Monday Aug. 22 to put second coat on door jam and door stop (my suggestion) so ready to go when doors were ready.
Told doors would be installed Aug. 23 (Tuesday). I received phone call Aug. 23 saying needed two people and would have to be August 24.
Finally did come on Aug. 24. While waiting for Person Number 1 to actually come with doors, Person Number 2 went for tea, so had to wait an extra 20 minutes for him to come back. By this point, I was beside myself but second person came and doors were installed. Again, workers pleasant people and did good job. Doors had to be repainted because messed up going in and out of trucks.
The final work was good. The project leader had good ideas like putting in a door stop at top so patio doors would not bang against washer or dryer and putting in magnets at top of doors so would stay neatly in place when closed. And they did do a good job of putting on what they called "mud" which is a protective barrier on the base and painting.
But there were so many postponements, each time with a different excuse, that I was beginning to despair of the doors ever being installed.
If they had just postponed once, even if it had been for the same overall period of time, it would have been less annoying. I think they underestimate how long paint takes to dry and also may hope they will have people available on a given date rather than not giving a date until they know people are available.

Door Re-hanging & Painting

I had a great experience with HandyHome. The administrative team was responsive and professional. They quoted accurately, and also were very prompt in messaging and scheduling. I really appreciated the organization in communications.

The technician, Ruben, was brilliant. (P.S. You can request technicians, and I will certainly be requesting him again with the next job!) I can't recommend him highly enough. He was prompt, polite, and professional. He did an excellent job with the service request, and was both courteous and thorough. He did a great clean-up job, and I couldn't be happier with the finished product!

Thanks for a great experience, HandyHome!

Oven repair

The technician let us know when to expect him and was on time. He diagnosed the issue and showed me what he was looking for. He needed parts, which he got the next day, and returned according to an appointment to complete the repair.
He was friendly, polite, and efficient, and my oven works properly again. I am pleased.

Fixed fence and installed a new door

My contractor, Yuri was going to be late, but we were notified the night before. This job was done in two days but it was completed within the estimated hours even though there were some challenges because my house is old. Yuri was very good at problem solving and got the jobs done. Yuri worked very quickly and efficiently, without sacrificing the quality of his work. Yuri was very friendly, honest and pleasant to work with. We will not hesitate to use HandyHome again in the future when we are ready to put more work into our home. Thank-you Yuri! Thank-you HandyHome!
