Steadfast Construction And Renovations

January 2016, we called Steadfast construction to tear down and reinstall the ceiling in our walk through closet. The trick to this project was that the walk-through closet is full of built in cupboards and shelving units that had to be carefully dismantled and removed from the room before the ceiling could be taken down.

Mike came by shortly after my call and gave his estimate, which he broke down by stages of work and supplies to price point giving a clear understanding of what the job fully entailed work wise. His team came in to do the work a week later which was kind as it was a last minute request and Mike was already busy with work.

They were prompt and worked diligently to get the job finished as quickly as possible as we had a preferred finish date for the closet.
The ceiling was full of filler insulation and had the potential to be extremely dusty and dirty. Mike’s Team handled it very well containing the dust and rubble inside the closet room and not allowing it to spill into other sections of the house.

Once the ceiling was removed and all debris cleared they put in the new insulation and ceiling. The taping and painting was perfect.
After all that we decided to change the carpet last minute. Mike referred us to the person he uses for carpeting. The carpet guy was fast, efficient, knowledgeable and saved us quite a bit of money compared to one of the bigger carpet companies.

As soon as the carpet was put in, Mike and his Team were back to put in the elaborate shelving system that was there previously. They were careful with all the shelving units and walls, putting everything back in perfectly as it was before and made sure to fix any paint or marks left on the walls after their re-installation.

This was the second time we had hired Steadfast Construction and Renovations and once again, we were not disappointed. Mike and his team were always professional, respectful and hardworking. Mike is always pleasant and willing to explain any process and answer any questions you may have, leaving you with a better understanding of your home and feeling secure that your renovation is safe in the hands of Steadfast Construction and Renovations.

In the fall of 2015, Steadfast did a complete renovation for our two bathrooms in a century-old semi in the Beaches. Mike and his team were great.

He provided a comprehensive and accurate quote, which he stuck to, both budget and time-wise. They were not the cheapest option, but we felt we got what we paid for. Mike was very transparent about any additional costs and always requested permission in advance.

The project ended up being about a week late due to unforeseen circumstances because the scope of the project expanded a bit. Overall, he said he would take longer than others but this was clear from the quote.

From the quote phase and throughout the project (and even after), Mike provided valuable qualified and reasonable advice. The job was very well done, with attention to details and accountability.

He came up with creative ideas to address space challenges presented by old houses. For example our basement is not very high, and we wanted a shower to fit us comfortably. They proposed and built a step-down shower that works great for us.

Mike and his team provided excellent client service: their communications were open and prompt, with a positive, can-do attitude. They were very polite and pleasant to work with.

They showed responsiveness when it came to fixing issues, owning mistakes and correcting them, adapting to changes to the plans.

We have already recommended them to friends and neighbours and would definitely use them in the future.

I approached Steadfast in late summer 2015 to help with a number of jobs that would help finish the rear of my house and garage, which included: replacement windows and doors and installing a new sliding door and window, new siding and building paper/sheathing, a new PT deck, screen and stairs, bulkhead for a new dryer vent, new laneway gate and partial garage recladding with metal and eavestrough work. The work had to be coordinated around the removal of an existing stair and construction of a new concrete walkout stair. The concrete walkout stair (completed by others) was completed at the beginning of December, which allowed Steadfast to start immediately after. I asked them to work quickly to minimize the disruption to my tenants and to also be completed by Christmas.

Mike Carling at Steadfast was professional, flexible and accommodating with my requests, working within my budget, helping problem-solve unexpected issues from a 90-year old house and ultimately finished a week before Christmas, as promised. He brought with him a team that was considerate and helpful and skilled. I am very happy with the end result and would highly recommend him for future projects.
