Sockets and switches

I called and left a message, Andrew at Community Electric called very soon afterwards and we set up an appointment. They were very flexible when I had to reschedule a few days later. | |Vlad showed up on time and ready to work. I walked him through the tasks that we had and he got to work immediately. He had an assistant come to help as well and they were done in 2 hours. They replaced a socket, checked and replaced some switches that were popping, and they installed a new light fixture. I wish I had more for them to do (they were done with time to spare), but I am glad we had them come out.

Electrical Panel

They removed our 50+ year old electrical panel and installed a new panel with a generator load transfer switch. All went to my liking: they were on time, very professional and knowledgeable, and they finished the job within the time frame they promised. Andrew (the lead electrician) was especially accommodating and was very patient with me and my dumb questions.

Electrical rewiring

Our electrician, Vlad from Community Electric, was wonderful to work with. He was courteous, kind, and resourceful in dealing with the limitations of our home. The cost seemed a bit high. I was told by a friend that he paid $4,000 for upgrading the lighting for a whole house. We had only four rooms done, but that included about 20 lights and electrical outlets--so he did a lot of work in those four rooms. I would recommend this service to anyone who is seeking a quality job. What a difference new lighting has made to our home. It completely changed the look and even elevated my mood. Light is a wonderful thing!

Lighting, Fan

Andrew arrived on time. He proved to be knowledgeable and efficient. I showed him the two problems: (1) a suddenly dim new LED bulb in the downstairs hall, on the same circuit as the new LED bulbs at the top and the bottom of the stairs, which were bright; and (2) an intermittently noisy bathroom ceiling fan/light. Naturally, just like when you take your car to your mechanic and it won't make that odd noise, neither of these two problems occurred when Mark first looked at them. He examined the wiring for the formerly dim LED bulb and pronounced it OK, so we concluded that the bulb was at fault and replaced it with another new LED bulb, which was bright. Next, he found that the bathroom ceiling fan/light motor was covered with talcum powder, causing poor performance; Andrew took it down, cleaned the motor, the trim, and the ceiling enclosure, and put it back all together - it is much quieter now. I appreciate Andrews knowledge and execution and will ask for him should I need electrical assistance again.

electrical work

Community Electric replaced two fans and added timer switches to control them, replaced bathroom lights, moved electrical outlet, and replaced a few switches and outlets (for colour match). Price includes labor and small materials such as junctions boxes. I provided fans, timer switches and lights fixtures. Others will do related sheet rock patching and ducting/venting for fans. In case you think the cost was high for the work done, let me tell you that bathroom remodeling contractors quoted me almost double for the same work.

Wiring and extensions

Aidan was great! Explained everything he was doing and was informative about the process. He also gave us some advice on our order of operations as we're building a new entryway to the kitchen. He roughed in all of the electrical and capped it all off, letting us know that the finished project would look best if he finished everything off once we were done sheet-rocking and painting. He also noticed that the thermostat needed to move to the other side of the wall since we moved a heat duct fairly close, which would throw off our heating. These are things I didn't expect help with, but am so glad that Aidan pointed out. Definitely made the overall project better, and he went above and beyond our expectations!
When the inspector heard that Community Electric was doing the work, he basically gave it a quick once-over and then took off, giving it his stamp of approval. Looked like he was familiar with the quality of their work and trusted them too!

Musical Equipment

Community Elcectric was fantastic to work with from start to finish. From the moment of scheduling, the team was prompt, polite, and professional. The receptionist was able to provide an estimate for the small job over the phone and it was right on target. Scheduling was easy as they were able to provide service within a week. I purchased a systems that were needed for my backyard and stayed relatively within the amount with the exception of permit prices, etc. which they explained upfront. Very happy and would definitely use again. Thanks!
