Sharrison Painting

We had Sharrison Painting (Kyle Shiaman) renovate our basement. The job was large - we had the support wall removed to create an open space, we moved another non-supporting wall, we waterproofed the perimeter (from the inside) and put in a back-flow valve, drains were redone, and we put in in-ground (hot water) heating under a polished concrete floor as well as a separate manifold for the new system. Basement was then finished and painted.

All aspects of the job were done very well with excellent attention to detail. Kyle has recruited first class tradesmen who were very professional and courteous, leaving the job site clean. We are very happy with the final product which looks great and shows very good attention to detail.

Communication with Kyle was outstanding - any queries were answered typically within an hour and never longer than a day. Coordination with inspections, the architect and the designer was also done pretty seamlessly, and there were several inspections (electrical, plumbing, support beam). Kyle also coordinated with the city so that we could file rebates.

Solutions to unexpected problems were discussed with us thoroughly and options were always provided. Kyle also has a thorough knowledge of what is available off the rack at big box stores like Ikea and Home Depot so that he could provide us with a few options for finishes without us having to do tons of research.

The job was a bit long (approximately 5 months) but this was not unreasonable given the scope. Importantly, Kyle and his team did not "run out of steam" and finished all the remaining small details.

Overall I would highly recommend Sharrison Painting for a job of this scope and would hire them again.

I stumbled on Sharrison via a search on Homestars and was somewhat reassured by the high star ratings. I've had so many bad experiences with contractors that I've become paranoid with any hire, but now that my basement has been completely renovated and updated by Kyle and his crew, I couldn't be happier. They knew what they were doing! The basement had always been musty and Kyle pointed out the improper insulation and lack of vapour barrier. Now it is fresh smelling and dry. They did new flooring, new carpeting, some plumbing work, insulation, drywall and painting, baseboards and casings, new doors and hardware, some light fixtures, a sauna beautification. It looks amazing, they left the place very clean and touched up and addressed anything that I wasn't 100% satisfied with, without questioning. I had them work in a very tight deadline because I am selling my home and they managed to finish as promised give or take a few days. All of Kyle's tradesmen worked quietly, diligently and respectful of the family being upstairs. I would have no hesitation to recommend Sharrison for painting and renovation work!

We had very unpleasant experiences with our 2 previous contractors. In short, they are just a bunch of unprofessional contractors whose intention is to deceive naïve homeowners, especially new immigrants like us. As such, we have very little trust and confidence in any general contractors.

However, when we knew Kyle (Sharrison Painting) from the flyers in our mail box, we did not think much of engaging him. His pleasant and unaggressive demeanor made us comfortable. So when we needed to renovate my mother-in law basement suite, we thought of him and asked for a quote. He is not the cheapest nor the most expensive trades but he is willing to work with us to build a good rapport and most importantly, our confidence in him. It is hard to find a trustworthy contractor these days but Kyle certainly has my vote of confidence.

We made progress payment as each milestone is delivered. During the renovation process, we had to go for a 4 week- vacation which we have planned months ago. Kyle and his crew continued and completed the work while we were away despite our delayed payment as we were not able to write cheques from overseas. Kyle kept us informed of the renovation progress during our vacation through text and video clips. In summary, it was such a pleasant experience working with him.

Although we went a little over budget, it was expected as there were surprises behind the walls due to the age of the house. Kyle was very fair in calculating the additional costs and even deducted some costs where he was able to save us some money.

Overall, we are very pleased with Kyle and his crew. They are professional, caring and most of all, trustworthy.

I had a very positive experience with Kyle. He is a very honest, sincere individual which in this business can be hard to find. He had some great people that work for him as well. The work itself was well done.

There were a few issues that came up which happens in this type of work and again Kyle made sure the work was corrected and right

Kyle did an amazing job on our first home in Markham. He helped us choose colours that we saw online or in photos almost exactly. He made the stress of moving in while painting nearly non existent. I would highly recommend this company to anyone, could not have been more pleased with their services.

Sharrison Painting was awesome. Not only were they cost effective, but they were incredibly service oriented. Very easy to work with the entire time, and very, very accommodating - coming to our office at 5:30am to finish the job before work hours began. Excellent service and quality work. Well priced. Very knowledgeable in the renovation/home/building industry. Painting was done on budget and on time. Tv wall mount unit and floating shelf installed beautifully with wires concealed behind wall. Highly recommended..

We met Kyle from Sharrison Painting when he repainted the exterior of our town house development and we asked him to also repaint our wooden decks. He was extremely reliable, timely, did charge what he promised to charge and did a wonderful job.
If we have another project, Sharrison Painting and Kyle will be the first ones to ask.

It's difficult to give a review of a staining job that is only 4 months old. We could give a more definitive response after seeing how it stands up to a winter and summer of abuse. However, we are quite satisfied with the diligence in which Sharrison applied themselves to ensure that all boards were properly treated and caulked where necessary. Sharrison's initial estimate was quite a bit below the final cost. If they can sharpen up that side of their business, we would have no problem recommending them to others.

We needed a small job done in a big hurry before we left for vacation. It was patching and re-painting two walls in a bathroom and re-painting a large wall on the main floor.

I knew that Sharrison would do a great job, as they had recently completed a major wood staining project for all the wood paneling on our townhouse complex. Kyle came in and did the job on time and on budget! Kyle's workmanship is excellent, and his work area was clean when he left. I will not hesitate to contact Kyle whenever I need home renovation / reparation projects completed.
