I needed advice on (a) colour to repaint the newly renovated kitchen to make the kitchen look less grey (b) a colour for the rest of the house, to blend the kitchen in with the existing furniture and agreeable to my colour palette (c) colour and type of tiles I should use on washroom floors that would blend with existing tub/ shower stall and the vanity top.
I had a very tight budget. Irene understood that and gave me cost reducing ideas and gave me the perfect colour combinations as well as her discounts. She charged a fee for the whole job and not by the hour which was great and was available for consultation during the job.
The colours Irene picked look great and the kitchen and the rest of the place blends in perfectly. I had so many complements on the finished product.

Irene was part of the ProRise team who painted our house and deck last month. She was professional, thoughtful and approachable. She shared her insights and suggestions and was respectful as to our likes/dislikes. It was refreshing to have someone that looked at positives vs negatives. When I decided to have the exterior my house re-painted, Joseph of ProRise Painting recommended and provided a colour consultation with Irene. While I have always considered myself quite naturally astute about design and colour, I quickly realized the benefits of knowledge and professionalism. Irene was patient, thoughtful, and considerate, keen to get a clear sense of the house and my general focus, then quick to find the colours that would bring my general idea to reality, and then patient again as I considered the options and sent more questions her way. I am very pleased with the colour combination she suggested; it has given my home a more contemporary, sophisticated look and has also enhanced its connection to its setting. I recommend her very highly and without hesitation.

Design Happens were assigned by our builder to assist with all material selections for our recently completed new home, both exterior and interior. The exterior included the selection of the roof, rock, gutters, windows, railing and the house colour. For the interior, it included 5 bathrooms, kitchen, bar area, all tiles, flooring, countertops, cabinet style and colour and the wall colours. We loved the end result and will definitely use Design Happens again when we build our next home.

Irene was able to change the colours in our home making it brighter and coordinated so all the colours and rooms flow together. In addition she gave us many good suggestions regarding furniture placement pictures and accessories. We are very happy and get many compliments from our friends and family.

Irene's first job with us was 7 years ago for a paint consultation on our 50's bungalow. She was able to suggest interior colours that would complement our existing furnishings including our giant ugly blue/pink couch and 90's pearl oak cabinets. It was almost as if she was able to make those hideous furnishings disappear with extremely adept choices in colors and accents. She also did a great job of picking colours for the stucco/wood exterior as well. We received alot of complements for all of two years before we demolished the old bungalow and embarked on a new build.

For the 4000 sq ft wonder, Irene's involvement was much more extensive - not just choosing paint but granite, tile, flooring, etc. If you've never built a house, it's one of the most exhilarating, exasperating, exciting, stressful and satisfying things you can do. Irene was there whenever we had questions or doubts and was not just a professional but truly cared about the result and our ultimate satisfaction. As they say, she went th extra mile and then some!

The house turned out great but I guess we got bored because we just sold it and will be heavily renovating a newly purchased mid century modern. We are very much looking forward to working with Irene again. It's going to be a wild ride but I know she's going to help make it enjoyable and very satisfying.

Irene from Design Happens did a wonderful job when she helped us to map out a decorating plan last year . She had very useful suggestions for de-cluttering our kitchen and our office. Her choices of colors were a perfect fit for us. Now that we have our house under organizational control, we have hired Irene to finish the plan and she will arrange to have the painting done, carpet installed and purchase bed covers and cushions to tie everything together and give it that nice, professionally decorated look. We would definitely recommend Irene to anyone looking for a designer who is easy to get along with and who has beautiful taste.
