Terrible painting job

My response to the company's response below:
Joseph,
Do not accuse me of slander or posting false photos. You were not present at the job site and therefore are in no position to say what happened or didn’t happen. That is a photo of my ceiling, and the file’s properties clearly show what device was used to take the photo, when it was taken, and where it was taken. I posted the photo to make the point that as a customer obtaining ‘professional’ painting services, we should not have been put in the uncomfortable and frustrating position of telling your painters that a flat ceiling should not appear textured after painting.
A project is not just the end product. It includes the process of getting to that end. The large number of deficiencies we had to point out and have corrected was unacceptable. We had to have your company in three times to get it to an acceptable state.
The hostile manner in which you have replied to my review further illustrates why no one should hire you.

Original review dated November 11, 2020:
I cannot recommend Prorise Painting. In fact, I have told many people to never hire these people. Joseph and his team over-promises and under-delivers.
During the discussion of the estimate and scope of work, Joseph said they would send two teams of two to do the work—he sent one team of two. Joseph said they were scheduling about two weeks out—more like five weeks. I specifically said that I wanted the window frames stripped. It was only after they did a cursory job of scraping that Joseph said stripping the paint was not common practice—funny, how he didn’t say this while we were discussing the estimate and scope of work.
The worst was the actual painting. I have never seen a worse attempt at painting. There wasn’t a single cut that was straight on either our trim or ceiling. They clearly used dirty or cheap rollers as the ceiling had fluff stuck to it and large visible roller lines. It took them three attempts to get the job done to a barely acceptable degree. I signed off on the job simply to get them out of my house.
Prorise promotes themselves as a professional painting company, but professionals cover furniture. Prorise didn’t cover all our furniture—my son’s bed had dust all over it. Professional bring lights: Prorise didn’t bring lights, so at 6:30 on a Friday evening one of the painters was using his cell phone light to see by. Professionals cover the floors in the rooms they’re painting: Prorise didn’t cover my floors, so there were paint splatters all over my floor. Professionals don’t leave open cans of paint directly on a bare floor, which Prorise did. Prorise painted the ceiling after the walls and I’m still finding white ceiling paint splatters on my walls. Professionals treat their clients and their property with respect; Prorise didn’t treat my home with respect.

Approximate cost of services:
$2,500.00

Company Response

Hi Nan,

This is our response to your review concerning your painting project. I hope each customer can read this in its entirety to fully understand the true outline of events.

Our team is terribly disturbed by your false review with fake and incomplete accusations. All of the photos you uploaded were PRIOR to job completion. During our final walkthrough with you and our team, you were completely satisfied with the work once it was fully completed to your satisfaction after all the touch-ups/deficiencies and you and your husband Paul's concerns were addressed. In any home improvement project, touch-ups almost always take place, and this is indicated in your contract. Everything was addressed in a timely manner. As we do with all of our customers, we specifically mentioned that we would not accept payment from you until you are 100% satisfied with the work. Due to the inconvenience of timing and delay (which happens on occasion due to the nature of the season, industry, and especially backlog from Covid-19), we provided a $200 discount off your bill without you asking for it. You signed off on the Customer Sign-Off Inspection Form on October 2, 2020, and the job was deemed finished after payment was received on October 5, 2020.

This form is presented to ensure that each of our customers is happy and satisfied with the work that is completed by Prorise Painting. This is an additional step that we proudly take to provide our customers with an opportunity to bring forth any final concerns or questions prior to signing off on this final document as it represents a stamp of approval. Again, our company does not accept payment until this form is signed, which demonstrates the customer is happy with the work provided, and only after a thorough final walkthrough is conducted with the Job Supervisor.

Here are some points to address your false statements:

* Joseph did not agree to strip the metal window frames. The scope of work including exclusions is clearly stated in your contract.

* Your floors and furniture were protected with plastic and clean drop sheets. The paint splatter on the floor you have referenced to is dust and was cleaned up right after the photo was taken. This was immediately addressed already.

* The photo you posted is of a TEXTURED ceiling photo and not the ceiling that Prorise painted. Your ceilings were FLAT and we have clear documentation and evidence of your home. This is also in your contract. Why are you posting incorrect photos of your ceiling???

AGAIN, the photos you posted are images of when the job was in progress and the ceiling photos are not what we worked on. Your photos are a poor and misleading representation of the project and are not a fair display of the final results. This is malicious and unfair to us. We are not sure why you have chosen to slander our company after the job has been complete and that we had resolved all issues for you with kindness and patience. We are not sure why you failed to display final photos that accurately represent that the job was completed successfully to a professional standard. We stand by our work and customer service, and are shocked and saddened to receive such a poor recollection of the truth. We took all the necessary steps to ensure that you were happy and satisfied with the final work by presenting opportunities for you to address any outstanding concerns prior to receiving the final payment. We completed your project on budget, to your satisfaction, and we also provided a $200 discount for the scheduling inconvenience.

Your outright false accusations are slanderous and defamatory in nature, falsely criticizing our company and jeopardizing the reputation that all of our team members have worked so hard to build.

Joseph
