mindful in selecting the right contractor for us. After having about 7 Contractors come in and quote our project we decided to go with Alex at A&R Renovations for a couple of reasons. Pricing was in between the other companies, and with our initial discussion we got the sense that Alex took great pride in his work, was experienced, and told us like it is and we felt that he would stay true to his commitment. A&R Renovations is also insured and he was able to provide a certificate of insurance which was an extra level of comfort when selecting Alex.

After 95% of the project is complete we can confidently say that we made the right choice with Alex. He arrives at our job site everyday weekday and is never late. He stuck by his word that he would be at the job site every day which has lead to a number of advantages, the main being quality of workmanship as he is the one doing most of the technical aspects of the project and there is a consistent dialogue with the ability to tackle any issues that may arise during a project.

We are very pleased with how our basement has turned out, nothing was done sloppy and Alex' pride shows in his work. Throughout the project, the site was kept clean with very little debris left at the end of the day.

Overall, Alex is a straight shooter and tells it like it is. I would recommend A&R Renovations and the other reviews are consistent with his product.

We discussed renovating our master bathroom for several years, however we always hesitated due to the stories that we heard from friends (I.e. renovations that never ended, cost overruns, poor results). The risk appeared to be too great. After all, our bathroom was functional.
Then in October, we decided to proceed. I am amazed by how quickly everything progressed and I am absolutely delighted with the end result.
Alex’s professional website and positive customer reviews prompted us to request a quote. Alex arrived at our home in the midst of COVID and took all precautions. His quote was slightly less than other quotes that we received and something just felt “right “ therefore we asked Alex to do our renovation.
Alex told us that the work would be completed in two weeks and he was right on schedule (even fixing uncovered problems and a sloping bathroom floor). The workmanship is excellent, the final product is beautiful and I love our new bathroom.
Our family and friends have viewed photographs of the work (we are still in midst of COVID) and they also think it looks great! I am recommending Alex to anyone who asks!

Alex did an amazing job on our bathroom renovation.

Our bathroom was long overdue for a complete overhaul particularly as we had water damage around the shower. Alex pointed out that our fan had not been working properly and ensured this was fixed. He also pointed out issues with the tiles we had selected and guided us to ensure we had the quality we were looking for.

Everything was completed on time & budget. We are more than happy with the quality of the materials and thrilled with the work!

We found Alex online and were immediately impressed with the number of very positive reviews he received online. We interviewed several contractors, but Alex gave us the most detailed and comprehensive quote. We have a very old house, but with Alex's experience he was able to identify potential problems and he worked with us to find solutions.

When it came time to start the job, Alex arrived on time every day and worked hard until the job was done. He provided us with an accurate estimate of the length of the project, and he completed the project on time and on budget. He has excellent painters and other sub-trades who work with him. He is a perfectionist and a very skilled contractor who pays attention to detail. I would not hesitate to recommend Alex again.

Working with Alex was a wonderful experience. This was the first renovation we've taken on, so we spoke with a number of different contractors before deciding to go with Alex. During this initial phase, Alex delivered a detailed quote quickly, and provided pricing estimates for mid-range materials. He was readily available to answer any questions we had.

During the renovation Alex showed up on time every day, was transparent, respectful and very detail oriented. He listened to what we wanted and was great to collaborate with.

We also wanted two floors of the house painted and Alex arranged for excellent painters to come in and do the work.

Alex went above and beyond, hanging finishing for us and even helped us put back a wall unit that was taken down for the painting.

His pricing was very fair for the quality you get and we are very happy with the work he's done. We'd absolutely work with Alex again in the future.

We hired Alex to tear down the existing basement left by the previous owner and rebuild from scratch. We were concerned with the things we couldn't see behind the walls and wanted to find someone with the experience to make things right.

From the initial consultation, Alex's experience and attention to detail came through. Of all the other contractors we invited to provide quotes, Alex was the only one that spent over an hour walking through the basement with us, outlining the work that he'd do, and pointing out areas of concern, and the things likely hidden behind the walls that he'd need to fix. His quote was fair, with a detailed breakdown of the different costs. The other companies were in and out within 10 minutes.

During the job, Alex arrived early every day, and made sure to leave a clean job site before he left. I appreciated the fact that he only does one job at a time, so that he can focus on providing great work without needing to jump to other jobs. After demolition, Alex was extremely transparent about the hidden issues that he was able to uncover, and was clearly able to explain the problems, and how to fix them rather than just covering them up, and moving on to the next job.

As with any job, hiccups arise due to miscommunication, but Alex would consistently take the time to go back and address anything that happened. He always wanted to make sure we were happy, and went out of his way to do the little things to make our basement exactly the way we wanted it. He also took it upon himself to address things that we didn't see.

Overall, I'd highly recommend Alex. His honestly, transparency and customer-focus made him a pleasure to work with.

Contract was simple and explained everything regarding requested work. Work started on agreed date and time and finished before time. Workmanship was detailed and very clean. I’m more than satisfied with their work and would recommend to everyone !
