I highly recommend All Pro Landscaping. The work they did on my backyard patio exceeded my expectations.

I met with Angelo to get a quote for my backyard patio. I was anal because I ended up getting five quotes. All Pro wasn’t the cheapest quote or the most expensive. You get what you pay for and the cheapest quotes either had hidden costs or didn’t make me feel confident.

Angelo described what the patio would look like and it became evident that focuses on quality. He didn’t cut any corners and there were no hidden costs; his “standard” was above par compared to other contractors. Angelo was the only one who gave me a written quote in an Excel spreadsheet. It looked professional, as opposed to the hand written scribbles from other contractors. He also gave me an estimated start and end date. He was able to start three days earlier than expected and finished on time. There was no gap in the work schedule; I didn’t have to worry about the crew disappearing for some time with a hole in my yard.

Angelo did a good job explaining to me what I would get but my imagination didn’t do the final work justice. It looks better than I imagined. All Pro had all the right tools and the crew worked hard. They were great at protecting my lawn and cleaning up. Even my neighbours, who watched, commented on the professional job.

I am planning to get All Pro to fix our front walkway. I won’t hesitate to recommend All Pro to my family and friends. Thanks to the crew: Angelo, Edgar, Carl, Kirk, Devon, Blake and Chris.

FOUNDED IN 1985 BY NICOLA TERSIGNI AND 21-YEAR-OLD SON ANGELO, ALL-PRO Landscaping & Carpentry Ltd. specializes in working with clients to enhance the beauty and functionality of the landscape elements that complement and add to the enjoyment of their homes.

A FEW NOTES ABOUT QUOTATIONS . . .
Angelo personally handles quoting and sales. Hours of work are invested in a typical quotation. Rather than providing homeowners with a bulk dollar amount for the entire project, Angelo goes the extra mile by presenting a detailed, typed "contract specification sheet" that breaks the entire project into individual components that specify the materials/dimensions and pricing per component. The quote also specifies applicable warranty, HST and payment terms. Ultimately, for homeowners who choose to entrust their project to ALL-PRO Landscaping & Carpentry, this quotation document evolves into the signed client contract, usually after a number of refinements to align more closely with the client's aesthetic and budget.
> At times during the season, Angelo may temporarily suspend quoting so that he can focus exclusively on current projects and on quotations already in hand.
In this scenario, our office manager invites homeowners to circle back to us at a later date if they are unable to find another contractor with whom they wish to proceed. She also compiles a waiting list of those homeowners who wish to meet with Angelo when he begins quoting again.

IS ALL-PRO LANDSCAPING A GOOD FIT FOR YOUR PROJECT?
During the peak spring/summer period, we receive approximately 20 to 30 quotation requests PER WEEK, sometimes more.
Many of these we need to decline for a variety of reasons. For example, the project site is outside our core service area, or our schedule is already booked during the homeowners’ desired completion timeframe, or the project is not the kind of work we do.
When non-client homeowners reach out to ALL-PRO Landscaping to request a quotation, we are very grateful. We also respect their time and want to ensure that we are a good fit for their projects. So our office manager will ask a few questions before including their information on Angelo’s quotation request call-back spreadsheet . . .

Q1. WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Each year, we must decline many quotation requests from homeowners located outside our service area.
Please refer to the “CORE SERVICE AREA” note, above.

Q2. DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT COMPLETION DEADLINE THAT YOU NEED TO MEET?
Some homeowners are working towards a particular project completion deadline such as the date of a backyard wedding or the arrival of visitors from overseas.
> This is important for us to know up front, because the homeowner's desired time frame may no longer be available on our schedule.

Q3. HOW MANY QUOTATIONS ARE YOU OBTAINING?
Conventional wisdom usually concurs that obtaining two or three quotations is prudent for homeowners who do not yet have an established relationship with a trusted contractor.
We respectfully decline to meet with homeowners who are obtaining more than three quotations.

Q4. WHAT KIND OF WORK WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE DONE?
We focus on "HARDSCAPE" construction projects, such as:
=> patios, walkways, steps, porches, garden walls, retaining walls, driveway borders/driveways constructed with precast concrete products and natural stone products.
=> decks constructed with pressure-treated, cedar and composite decking products.
For hardscape projects, we can also incorporate the following:
=> sod, mulch, triplemix, riverstone, ornamental rockery.
=> synthetic grass (usually Rymar Durablade 95 S-Shaped Synthetic Grass).
=> fence and gate structures, constructed with with cedar, pressure-treated or composite materials, as well as custom-ordered ornamental iron fencing from Medallion Fence.
We do NOT install the following:
=> Asphalt. We refer our clients to two trusted companies.
=> Stamped/patterned concrete.
=> Extensive plantings. While we can certainly do some planting of trees and shrubs as part of our hardscape projects, we refer our clients to trusted horticultural technician-designers for extensive garden design.

Q5. WHAT IS THE SCOPE OF YOUR PROJECT?
The HomeStars company PROFILE format includes a field for “PROJECT MINIMUM”.
> For prospective clients, we have set $5,000 as the minimum.
> For our previous clients, of course we are glad to come back to help with any landscape construction job, no matter how small.
> We appreciate that some homeowners may be unable to gauge whether or not their project would be above the $5,000 minimum threshold. Our office manager might be able to help with this when you describe the kind of work you would like to have done.

MEETING WITH ANGELO . . .
Angelo's QUOTATION REQUEST CALL-BACK LIST is updated by the office manager. On that spreadsheet, each request she enters is tracked by initial date of inquiry.
> CALL-BACK TIMEFRAME: During the construction season, Angelo strives to touch base with homeowners within two weeks of the date of their initial inquiry logged on the Quotation Request List (unless he had already placed a temporary hold on quoting before the inquiry was received).
> MEETING TIMEFRAME: During the construction season, Angelo does his best to integrate quotation meetings into his existing project work schedule. Client work always takes priority for him — something which prospective clients are sure to appreciate. During the offseason from approx. December through March, Angelo does quite a bit of quoting for the upcoming season, weather permitting.

During the peak season, Angelo combines jobsite work with sales, scheduling, purchasing, transportation, HR, client relations and other aspects of the business. He is at the jobsites daily. Multiple projects are usually under way. Clients deal with Angelo directly on anything pertaining to their projects. He manages the project schedule, calculates and places the orders for project materials and determines crew member assignments each day in consultation with his onsite Team leader, Dan. His Class AR driver's licence also enables him to minimize production disruptions by serving as the supply lifeline for the jobsites: delivering materials from manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers (paving stones, flagstone, wall systems, steps, boulders, rockery, gravel, screenings, lumber, fencing, topsoil, triplemix, sod, etc.), transporting equipment and materials between jobsites and ALL-PRO’s staging yard in north Ajax, and hauling project debris to transfer stations, for example. He integrates quotations into this schedule.

In the spring of 2010 I hired Angelo and his All-Pro Landscaping team to rebuild retaining walls with steps to the lower yard. Angelo came up with a great design and the price was very reasonable so I added on to the job by having them design and build stone elevated flower beds on both sides of the yard and to replace crumbling flagstone leading from the basement door. Angelo and his team completed the job in the time frame specified and left the job site clean and tidy on a daily basis. They were professional, prompt, courteous and a pleasure to have working around my home. I intend to hire them again this year to do work in the front of the home.

New Backyard Patio, Landing, Stairs, Garden Walls & Drainage

When searching for a reputable company that specializes in patios, decks and drainage solutions, we came across All-Pro Landscaping and Carpentry Ltd. and were immediately impressed by his website of pictures and referrals. Knowing we wanted our landing stairs made of railroad ties replaced with rounded stone stairs, we were instantly drawn to all the photos of semi-circular stairs and was amazed at how evenly cut, professionally installed, and flawless they looked. So we placed our call and Angelo the owner, responded back very quickly. We were impressed with his ideas, eye for detail, and extensive knowlege and experience on everything we wanted done. Turns out he personally hand cuts each stone when making the stairs! His quote included not only the price of our new backyard with a french drainage system put in but also the cost to dismantle and remove our existing deck and patio. No hidden costs anywhere. Angelo and his crew were very conscientious and took extra steps to not damage existing lawn and crown land when delivering all the heavy supplies around to our backyard. They cleaned-up daily so our dogs could still use their backyard at night with no threat of them getting injured. True professionals from start to finish. Very impressed with Angelo's hands-on style of running his business and his commitment to provide a quality job everytime. Thanks Angelo for creating a backyard we're proud to call ours and for all your patience when dealing with us and our numerous questions.

Removal of existing front yard and replacing with newly designed layout, stonework and plants

When we moved to our new home, we knew that we did not like to layout of the front yard and hired All-Pro Landscaping to improve matters. The company worked with our design, discussed matters with us and did a great job to remove concrete steps and platform, interlocking pavers, asphalt in driveway and all shrubs and one tree. They then set about building a retaining wall and steps at the front entrance, set walls to form garden beds, delivered and set five boulders. They also supplied garden soil so that we could then plant shrubs and bushes and one new tree. We are very happy with our new front yard.

Backyard overhaul

Our backyard certainly has the WOW factor….
Thanks to Angelo and his crew for their hard work and persistence through rain delays, early morning start times and long week-ends.
Angelo was diligent in explaining every detail of the project in the quote and was flexible in making small changes once the project was underway.
Angelo was very attentive to details, his workmanship was greatly appreciated throughout this major project in transforming our backyard into a two level oasis.
Devon, Paul, & Kirk provided terrific support to Angelo in having great craftsmanship for their experience of being landscapers.
We would strongly recommend Angelo to our friends and to keep him in mind for any future landscaping work.
Once again thank you to everyone who participated in making our backyard a dream come true in transforming our backyard to a lovely oasis. Let’s play mini golf, hot chocolate anyone!!!!

New fencing and steps in backyard

This is the third job that Angelo and his team has done for me. it was a smaller job which was completed professionally and his ideas for the project created a much better job than we had originally envisioned.
The end product is terrific and we are very pleased with the look. the costs were a little under what he estimated.
our other experiences with him were for walkways and stone decks which involved a few complicated drainage issues which he solved in a very satisfactory and creative manner.
I would recommend his services - the best testimony to this is clearly the repeat business we have done with him!

Did a great job at repairing the work on front steps that were done by a previous contractor. Also improved our deck at a very reasonable cost. Plan to use them again in the near future.

Back yard patio and deck reno

Backyard patio built by All Pro 4 years ago. This past year an addition/retaining wall was done with minor deck renos. We have utilized their services twice before. Had interlocking sidewalk done as well. Excellent service and follow up.

Landscaping, Deck Installation

Angelo and his team of professionals were great to deal with. Angelo kept us upated with timelines as our project got delayed by a few weeks because of 3 weeks of rain.

We had All-Pro:
-Replace 2 garden-walls
-Install interlock pathway and terrace
-Replace flagstone on front steps
-Install deck (also install gravel underneath to slope away from house)
-Pave driveway

We did have a couple of concerns with a few boards in our deck installation, but they were quickly replaced after we pointed them out.

All-Pro was not the cheapest to deal with, but on par with other companies. We were satisfied with the quality of the work and most importantly, trusted the contractors. Thanks for doing a great job All-Pro!

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?: -When doing comparisons with other companies, ensure that you look at the total scope of work -All-Pro was priced slightly higher than a few other companies we had considered BUT they took care of a lot of details that other companies did not even mention in their quote
