Installation of pool liner

I found Pool Buoy Pool Service on-line; I had heard of them already.
The response was quick (even though it was peak season) and felt immendiately confident that they could resolve the problem we were having and install a new liner.
Service was great and follow-up was even better.
I would highly recommend this professional and responsive team.

Pool leak inspection

I hired Pool Buoy last week to come and find a leak in my pool and they (Larry and his assistant) came the next day and found a leak in one of the pipes in my pool. They use top of the line gear and the technology works really well. I had one company come days before only to not find anything since they did not have the same knowledge and expertise that Pool Buoy has. What I like is that he even let me listen to what was going on to prove to me where the problem was and they also explained to me exactly what they were doing every step of the way. I think Pool Buoy is great and I would highly recommend!

Pool Leak Detection and repair

Larry came and detected the leak in my pool which I paid them for immediately, a mistake, you'll see why soon. I should have paid when the job was completed. They said they would be back in a week to do the repair, which they were. Larry came over on a Saturday, could not repair the pool (due to lack of knowledge of how to properly repair it, which I learned from another pool contractor later), told me he would be back the next day. He did not show up and did not call us. I then proceeded to leave him email messages and phone messages asking him to come back. This went on for almost a week, no response, then finally a nasty email arrived telling me to find another contractor. He left my pool disconnected two weeks before, the water was not circulating, and did not have the courtesy to call me back. Fortunately I found another contractor in the busy month of June 2011 who came and fixed the pool within a few days of original contact. I would never use this company again, it seems that I am not the first client that they did not return calls to.

Swimming Pool Liner and Safety Cover

My family and I bought a new house in Burlington with an older pool that needed some work done on it. After doing some research, I contacted Larry at Pool Buoy in early July of 2011 to obtain a quotation for a new pool liner and safety cover. Larry arrived on time to all appointments and returned calls in a timely fashion. What I liked is how he was able to explain everything to me in simple terms that a new pool owner can understand. He also did a free leak detection on the pool before and after the work to ensure everything is in top shape! I was very happy with the work that Larry and Pool Buoy Pool Services have done and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to get some work done on their pool. They certainly were not the cheapest or most expensive option but quality workmanship has its price and you can not go with inferior quality with your pool.

Installation of Safety Cover

I had Larry at pool buoy install my safety pool cover in the fall. He was one of four quotes that I received and his price was competitive and he conducted himself professionally during the whole quoting process. Based on the reviews from this site, I decided to go with him.

Once I placed the order, he told me it would be a few weeks to get the cover and install it, since my order was a custom order. The supplier was delayed, and each time I inquired with Larry via my usual contact method of email, he replied promptly that the supplier was backed up with orders and as soon it came in, he would come over and install it.

After a few more weeks of waiting, Larry finally let me know that the cover was in and that he was going to come over and install it. He came on a Friday afternoon at approximately 2-3pm and began closing the pool and simultaneously installing the safety cover. They worked right into the dark and I even provided them a work light, as they were unprepared for working that late. They finished the cover at around 7 or 8pm.

When I looked at the pool cover installation in the morning, I was quite disappointed. Firstly, the one corner where they finished in the dark, was stretched so tightly that it had ripples in it and I was afraid it would tear long term. The cover was not evenly distributed around the perimeter of the pool with one side having about 1 ½ ft overlap and in one corner only having ½ ft. Also, there were two instances where they used one anchor to attach two straps where the second strap was just cosmetically laid on top of the other strap. Furthermore, most of the anchors around the pool were not in a straight line which, although functional, does not demonstrate a high level of craftsmanship and cosmetic appeal.

I emailed Larry immediately expressing my concerns and requested he come back and address these issues. No response. I sent another email a couple of days later. No response. I even waited to the following week to send another email, just in case he was out of town for the week. No response. I followed up with a phone call and left two messages. No response.

Based on the poor installation and craftsmanship and given the lack of follow up and even a response, I could not recommend Larry and Pool Buoy Services. Get someone else to work on your pool!!!

Company Response

Michael,
In addition to our e-mail we want to apologize for not being able to respond to you in a timely manner since our offices were closed shortly after due to the fact we were in the off season. The anchors are carefully placed along the pool to ensure proper tension distribution along the entire cover. What is more of a priority is that the tension is evenly distributed amongst the cover and not the cosmetic appeal of the anchors. It is common to get ripples in the cover due to the fact that your pool is a custom lazy-L shape and there is often tension in that corner. It does not affect the longevity of the cover and will not tear in the long run as the cover is made with superior stitching and mesh material. Most covers require double anchoring as specified in the manufacturers installation guide. In this case only one anchor needs to be tightly fastened while the other sits on-top in order to match the grid scheme on the cover. Unfortunately, we do not warranty our work if it has been altered from our installation which we had already discussed.

Openning, Cleaning, Closing Liner and Safety Cover

I recently just put a new pool in the back before summer began and having no experience or expertise with pools I was definitely under-educated. Having nothing to go on, we called Pool Buoy services, (Larry) who took the time with us to go over the pools in's and out's. Larry and crew helped to install a new liner and safety cover for the pool. Both jobs were done with 100% professionalism and were done properly. Pool Buoy has done nothing but please us, since hiring them early this summer and closing this season. We intend on having Pool Buoy do our pool service for quite some time.

swimming pool opening and closing

I used to work for a pool company doing the exact work that Larry and Pool Buoy do. They do a top quality job and I appreciate their attention to detail. For a new company, Larry runs his ship tightly and takes pride in pleasing his customers, plus he knows his business well. He's straight up and honest, and I can trust him. I recommend Pool Buoy highly and intend on using them for a long time.

The swimming pool was renovated all over: new pipes, new skimmer, and new liner. A pressure test was done on all pipes, the liner was measured and installed perfectly, and the punctuality and workmanship were superb and a great price.

Unlike other the companies that have fixed my swimming pool before, and left me with big bills and shady workmanship, I was impressed with the workmanship, quality of care of Pool Buoy.

Pool Leak Detection

In September of 2009 we purchased a home with a pool only to find out it was leaking more than 1" per day. In the spring of 2010 we opened the pool, turned on the pump and it was leaking 1" per hour! We contacted Larry, he came early sunday morning and was right on time. He had the newest technology to find the leak not only in our plumbing but leaks in the liner as well. He "walked" me through the whole process showing me what he was doing and how the test equipment worked. No smoke and mirrors, no guy in a scuba suit!

He patched the liner right away. I dug a hole the next day and sure enough the leak in the return plumbing was right where he said it would be. When I related that I was a newbie Larry took the time to explain how the pool worked, what products to use and what products to steer clear of.

Larry is a true professional and I would recommend him to anyone!
