Ensuite Bathroom

I want to first apologize to P&P Renovations for taking a while to write this review after completion of my ensuite bathroom but I must express just how thrilled I am with the results. I had the pleasure of working with Rafael and Javier who were always prompt, professional and courteous. Even though I don’t know much about construction, Rafael provided me with an on-site progress report at the end of every Friday. That made me feel confident and comfortable knowing that I had someone on site who didn’t cut corners and could provide a thorough explanation for every step along the way. I was also very grateful for their honesty in helping me make decisions quickly by offering efficient solutions when unforeseen issues arose. I now have a beautiful bathroom that gets complemented on by everyone who sees it. I highly recommend P&P Renovations and will definitely be using them again for future projects. Thank you very much!

Bathroom renovation

Thank you for your great job! We got the reference of P&P renovations from a very close friend. The choice that we made in selecting this company was the best one since we were able to choose our budget based on various options for materials and quality ranges. The work was completed on time and all of the guidelines stipulated in the contract were respected from the beginning. Also, Natanael and his team made sure they didn’t damage my floor and they left my home completely clean after the work was finished, something most companies never do, at least not in my prior experiences. I highly recommend the work of this company. I am sure that if I ever require further services, I will request their work.

Kitchen and Powder Room Renovations

We want to thank you to Mauricio’s team for the excellent work you did on our kitchen remodel and powder room. Hiring P&P to work on our house was absolutely the right decision. Andres, Antonio and Mauricio who worked on the flooring, plumbling, electric and painting were professional and efficient, and the quality of the work far exceeded our expectations. We would be happy to recommend P&P to future customer.
Congratulations Natanael !!! You really have a great company with a professional crew. We are so happy with our kitchen.

Commercial Office Renovations

We had just purchased a new office suite that needed a full gut and renovation as it was about 25 years old. Rafael and Javier were there doing the work and I am delighted it was them two put to all of the tasks needed for this project. We had a business that was ready to move in December and we needed the job done A.S.A.P. Not only did they complete the job, but they had done it so much better than I had imagined, and faster than I could have expected! With all of the problems that seemed to crawl out of the woodwork once the renovation had begun, nothing seemed to phase Rafael or Javier, they are true masters of their work and I cannot express the positive experience I had with this company in words. I am thrilled and so is the company that moved into the suite, they have nothing but great things to say.

2 bathroom renos and laundry room mini reno

Maurizio and Antonio worked on our renovation (and Brandon painted). I cannot say enough good things about this crew! Everything was completed on time, on budget and looks beautiful. Everyone was very friendly & easy to have around. (I was home with a 1 year old throughout and they were so considerate of her). Nathaniel provided weekly consultation with excellent suggestions to deal with issues (due to our old house) as they arose. I HIGHLY recommend this company.

Master ensuite renovation

We had our master ensuite gutted and redone by P&P back in 2013. Why am I writing a review now? Because I've become increasingly frustrated by the end product. Rafael and Javier were the main guys working on our reno with Mario overseeing it.

When you first look at the bathroom it looks nice...but once you look a little more closely and start to use it, that's when you notice the problems.

1) Unlevel floor tiles - multiple areas where you can feel it under your feet. They returned to try to fix 2-3 of the main tiles that were not level but it actually turned out worse.
2) Grout between floor tiles is cracking.
3) Popping sounds over certain tiles likely because there is not good adherence with the thinset.
4) Unlevel mosaic tiles in the shower stall...sharp edges of mosaics sticking up slightly are very uncomfortable on the feet
5) Unlevel shower wall tiles...doesn't bother us during usage but visibly not right
6) The washroom is FREEZING in the winter...I used a thermal gun on the exterior facing walls of the washroom and a good section of one wall is significantly colder than the rest which means it was not properly re-insulated. Also the relocation of the floor vent away from the large window also contributes.
7) Incorrectly installed tile direction...basically they had wasted so many tiles during the tiling process that they had to use whatever left over piece remaining and hoped we wouldn't notice.
8) Chipped edges of our large vanity mirror....when they reinstalled our old mirror two edges were chipped.
9) Beadboard panels separating - a couple of spots where adjacent beadboards meet are starting to separate.
10) A year after the reno, I had the attic re-insulated by an insulation company and they found bags of garbage left in the ceiling above the washroom.
11) Metal safety plates not used in wood studs where electrical wires exist...I found this out while driling a pilot hole into a wood stud on the bedroom side to hang a TV mount. I ended up drilling right into an electrical wire and blew the circuit. I cut a square block of drywall out and saw no protection for the wires...not to Code!

The first few weeks of the reno, everything was going well. The guys were very friendly and easy to get along with. They tried to keep the job site and house clean every day. At one point, they broke the special carrera marble threshold piece we had purchased and they installed it anyway while trying to mask the crack the best they could. Fortunately I noticed it right away and complained. After that things seem to go down hill, with progress slowing down. They ended up being 2 weeks delayed for no real reason. By the end of it, we were just happy to finally see them go. Natanael responded to my complaints by telling me to follow up with Mario even though Natanael is the owner and the person we met and signed the contract with. Mario made the final inspection a big rush affair after they tried to fix the unlevel floor tiles...basically he just wanted their last cheque and didn't want to actually meet with me in person to have a real inspection. I left a cheque for him at the house as requested and was just happy the reno was 'done'.

P&P seems to have many good 10/10 reviews these days, so kudos to them if they have righted the ship and more of their customers are happy than not.

Home Renovation

Rafael and team happily oversaw a very large home renovation with a extensive issues both inside and out. The work was both large scale and detailed from full infrastructure of demolition, insulation, windows, doors, floors, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, painting and working with an architect and the City permits. In addition there are meetings every day to review work completed, work questions and work planning. I have relied on P and P since 2009 and the owner/operator Nataneal remains consistent along with the rest of his company. With confidence, I recommend P and P Renovations.

2nd floor renovation including main bathroom

Update: August, 2019

As it turned out, there were several deficiencies that came to light, starting 8 months after the job was completed. After P&P sent the project lead back to fix things up, they literally fell apart the following spring. Natanael never visited to see the issues. In fairness to him, he was injured at the time. He offered to compensate me so I could get the problems fixed myself or I could arrange to have the lead on the project (who was no longer employed with P&P) to come back again. We agreed on the compensation option and I have now got all of the issues properly fixed, including:
- We taped all of the drywall joint between ceiling and wall. About 50% of the total length (200') had come apart.
- the pocket door and frame for the bathroom was removed and installed properly.
- the wall hung toilet was removed, the wall repaired and the toilet was re-hung properly (according to instructions). It was also sealed with silicone (not done by P&P)
- the trim and the frame for the sliding doors in the den was removed and rebuilt and secured properly - this was the most obvious 'shortcut' P&P took. Instead of getting to the bottom of the problem when they tried repairing it, I was told it was a humidity issue. It was actually a screw and glue issue.
- the shower floor/wall joint was growing mould - this was 'stripped back' and redone and the problem has not come back.
- several joints where trim met were coming apart - these have all been repaired

I'm not out of pocket because Natanael paid me an agreed upon amount for me to fix the problems, but I can no longer recommend his company. Perhaps it was the young lad who was over his head (I notice now, he has no other mentions in P&P's reviews), but the end result was substandard finishing and lack of follow-through to resolve the issues.

I asked P&P to provide a bid on our plans to renovate the second floor (bedrooms and main bath) and from my first contact to job completion, we are extremely satisfied with the quality of their work and the experience of working with them.

Natanael (owner) is an expert and a straight-shooting gentleman. He kept a close eye on our project and was always available to discuss as things moved along. The team he assigned to our project was led by a very talented young man - Javier. Diligent, hard-working and professional sums up my assessment of Javier - thank you for your work and care on our project. I met many on the team and they are all cut of the same cloth- solid, competent, professional - this includes Natanael's admin assistant Ilemis, who made a very strong first impression.

Our second floor of our home was stripped down to the studs, roof and subfloor. Ceilings and walls were removed. Ductwork was done, adding two additional registers and a return on the second floor. The floor was reset to remove the step up to the back bedroom. New staircase, windows, subfloor, hardwood, insulation etc etc. A FANTASTIC new bathroom was installed - walk-in shower and everything is wall mounted - vanity and toilet. And my favourite change was a new staircase that is a standard width with standard dimensions for treads and risers. I'm a very happy customer and am available to act as a reference. I will post pictures later on.

Thank you Natanael and Javier for an experience we could not expect to be topped by any other company.
