Ali was very professional and polite. He and his colleague arrived on time and compelted their work on-time. He checked in often to confirm various options (quarterround style/colour, baseboards...) which was appreciated. And, most importantly the work was very well done. Our basement floor was far from even and we were told by other contractors that it would be very difficult to level and to lay laminant. It has been two years and we are still very happy with his work. We continue to receive compliments from friends on his work.

Initially, I received a quote from Home Depot, whose price was simply out of the question. The second company told me how difficult the job would be, and never provided a quote. Feeling lost, I was referred to Canwood Flooring by friends, who recently had their own floors done – best advice I ever received!

Ali and his crew were great! Everything they said they would do got done. There were no surprises when it came to the quote and they always came in on time. They kept their work areas clean to ensure we could continue to run our business while the renovations were being done. They did our railing, pot lights, painting and flooring. Over all very pleased with the work and professionalism. We would highly recommend them for any job and would not hesitate to hire them for our next project.

We worked with Canwood to replace the flooring on the main floor of our 1930's Toronto home and could not have been any more impressed. Canwood maintained a high degree of professionalism throughout the project, and had superior skill in overcoming the difficulties in working with older homes.

Throughout the project our home was left clean and safe at the end of the work day, and they maintained excellent communication throughout the project and kept to their timeline as promised.

We would recommend Canwood to anyone looking for hardwood and/or tile flooring, especially in older Toronto homes.

Ali and his crew did a wonderful job removing and installing carpet and vinyl flooring. The estimate was detailed and there were no hidden costs. Ali and his crew were friendly and very hard workers. They finished my two floors in two days and we love the outcome. Also Ali pointed out things to consider when choosing different color options.

Ali and his crew were extremely professional. Very punctual, full of smart recommendations. Canwood flooring exceeded our expectations and delivered us true honest work. We had our floors done, installed 79 pot lights and painted the whole house.

Ali and his team did an excellent job with the renovations to my townhouse. I replaced two levels of flooring with laminate as well as the baseboards and doors. His team also painted my house and put in pot lights in the lower level. Everything was done to a very high standard. Thanks for the great work Ali!

We were very pleased with Ali and Canwood flooring from his knowledge of older homes to his customer service. Job was on time, on budget and clean up was very good. Ali made sure we were pleased with the job and returned to fix one board we were not happy with. He also took the time to bring us some wood care products to help us manage any dings we happened to do!! I would definitely recommend Canwood. NOTE: I don't believe that a 10/10 is attainable therefore I would give them 9/10 (-:

Update, 1 Year later: as noted in the original review, our subfloors were not prepared for installation by the crew at Canwood. We have since brought in a proper crew to fix these issues. We have found some additional things that really make use question the skill of the Canwood crew. They seem like Jack of all trades instead of a flooring company. Things that we discovered when we took up the laminate: 1) the amount of dirt and debris was incredible. They did not take the time to properly clean the floors before hand. 2) The under padding was installed upside down. 3) There was spacing between the sheets of under padding which was causing some dips. 4) There were double layers of under padding in certain ares which were also causing dips.

Long story short:

Ali + his crew are nice people and the flooring that we purchased is very nice.

BUT The big issue that we had is that our subfloors were not in the proper condition for flooring installation. There are multiple areas that have dips and there are areas where the joists are raised up. The sad thing is that we discovered most of these issues after installation.

We have since talked to many flooring companies and they all make sure that every inch of the subfloor is ready for installation. This is something that Canwood did not do.

Canwood's response to this: "it's not our job to fix and level subfloors". That's fine, but at least notify the customer that there are many issues and what troubles can come from not fixing them. If we were told about all of the problems, we would have had them fixed. Sadly we were not told and now we have quite a few things that need to be repaired.
