We had a pokey 80's kitchen, with an odd layout. We knew we wanted to gut it and start afresh, but were unsure about opening up a load-bearing wall into the next room.
Wael came to our house and, having seen the room in context, came up with a plan that would never have occurred to us. It meant blocking up a window, which was scary, but with the open-plan layout, it really works.
At every stage, he listened to what we wanted, then used his expertise to come up with a kitchen that looks great and that functions brilliantly.
There were some glitches with the installation, and if I'm being picky, the scheduling of the return visits to fix those could have been smoother.
However, we couldn't be happier with the design process, and the finished product is exactly what we wanted, only better.

We wanted to remodel our kitchen. Our designer, Wael Bakr, was great to work with, as it seemed a little overwhelming to us at first. Wael took his time explaining, designing and coaching us from start to finish. We would like to highly recommend his talent, personality, patience and guidance. The contractor who installed the cabinets did a good job. The installer was meticulous and did an excellent job with everything, including all the trim details. So everything went well and we enjoy working in the new kitchen. In addition,we were pleased to have six hours of cleaning services offered to us by Laurysen Kitchens. The cleaning job was well done. The staff at Never2Clean was pleasant.

We decided to renovate our 20 year old kitchen. We had quotes from many companies but we decided to get a quote from Wael at Laurysen Kitchens. He has won many awards and he was quoted by many reviewers as an excellent designer. He came to our house and was very friendly, professional, helpful and listened to our needs. As we were complaining about the poor design of our kitchen, he made some very practical suggestions that we never considered. We implemented them as soon as he left.
A couple of weeks later, he had a plan to present us. The quote presented was in the ballpark as many other companies that we had already seen but we felt extremely comfortable with Wael and we were astounded at the quantity and quality of the cabinets available. We believed that hiring Laurysen with its solid track record and reputation would be the wisest choice for us. I had read about a lot of kitchen renovation nightmares that I certainly wanted to avoid. We trusted Laurysen. We were not wrong.
We met with Wael several times to fine tune the design and he guided us all the way. He even accompanied us to the tile store and picked out a floor tile and backsplash to go with our quartz countertop that are stunning.

The timing of everything went like clockwork. We decided to make a change at the last minute in the tiling of the floor and phoned Laurysen to delay delivering our cabinets for a week. They were scheduled to be delivered the next day. They said no problem. The delivery and installation went superbly and every person who came to our house associated with Laurysen was professional, courteous and prompt.

The kitchen took approximately six weeks to complete, as planned. Wael listened to what I liked and looked at my collection photos of kitchens that I liked. As a result, my renovated kitchen is stunning and looks exactly how I envisioned my dream kitchen. Our experience was wonderful. I would recommend Laurysen Kitchens to anyone. And the designer Wael was excellent.

Excellent service from design, selections, installation and minor deficiencies. Wael Baker (designer) encouraged us to look at a complete redesign which we did. The installer was meticulous and did an excellent job with everything including all the trim details.

We wanted to upgrade our 60's kitchen. After looking at several company designs , we decided to go with Laurysen due to the dedication of their designer Wael Bakr. He did on-site measurements of the existing kitchen and discussed our requirements for the new kitchen prior to designing the new layout.
Wael did an excellent design for our kitchen which required moving a wall and adding additional cabinetry along with a built-in quartz table.
Wael came to help us pick out the new flooring and back splash. He also showed us options for the quartz that would better complement our overall kitchen design.
With excellent work from one of their suggested contractors, The Village Contractor, the job was completed on time.
The overall timeline was tight from planning to completion date. The kitchen renovation was completed on time and in budget.
After service care has been acceptable. One door had to be replaced due to a small nick in the wood. The door was replaced in the stated time period.
I would recommend Laurysen and Wael Bakr and will use them for future house upgrades for our bathrooms and basement renovations.

This was the most frustrating reno I have ever done, Until I met Wael Bakr! He made this project a dream come true. Wael took his time explaining, designing and coaching me from start to end. This man is amazing! I would highly recommend his talent, personality and guidance. My Kitchen is absolutely beautiful.

Laurysen Kitchens recently completed a kitchen renovation for us and we are extremely happy! Our house was built in the 1950s so it was a bit of a challenge bringing it into 2015 due to the walls and ceilings being off however; Laurysen Kitchens with the help of our contractor Chris Love were able to complete it and the end result is amazing. It was a difficult renovation requiring knocking down 2 walls to create an open concept as well as installing many support beams since the house is a bungalow. Wael Bakr from Laurysen Kitchens created the design and he envisioned a kitchen that was perfect for our lifestyle. He was extremely patient and knowledgeable. I anticipated several meetings to negotiate the plan for the kitchen; however his design was so well done that we followed his judgement all the way and the end result paid off. I would have no issue recommending Wael Bakr as a kitchen designer as well as Chris Love as a contractor.

We purchased a Laurysen Kitchen from an authorized dealer and our experience with both the dealer and the manufacturer has been extremely disappointing. Since this review is specifically for the manufacturer and not the dealer I will leave the dealer issues; for the most part, out of my review.

Our issue with Laurysen is warranty and customer service related. After our kitchen was installed (well partially installed as the dealer never finished the job) we noticed that all our painted doors were not sprayed properly during manufacturing and were displaying "thin" paint and rough finish between the door panels and the decorative trim that's applied on the front of our doors. After we notified our dealer a representative from Laurysen came to our home and confirmed that they had seen this problem with other customers and that a known equipment problem was causing some painted kitchens to be improperly sprayed. His solution was for the dealer to dismantle the doors and have them sent back to Ottawa to be re-painted. We were not happy with having to send all our doors back but we agreed to this as we really had no alternative.

After Laurysen visited us we started having a multitude of issues with our dealer and had to sever that relationship as we no longer trusted his work or believed that he would actually complete our kitchen (and home renovation) to our satisfaction. We notified Laurysen of our dealer issues and requested their assistance to help us completely our kitchen and address our warranty claim; either directly or via an alternate dealer, but Laurysen stood behind their dealer and more or less refused to provide us with an alternate solution to our issues. In addition the Laurysen rep said that he had only agreed to fix a dozen doors and that's all they were going to warranty. (We have roughly 30 doors and they all have the same issue)

It's now been 6 months since we ordered our kitchen and it's not finished and we have not been able to have our warranty claim fulfilled. We asked Laurysen on multiple occasions for help (we even told them we would pay for the missing pieces that needed to be re-ordered) but their response is that they don't get involved in dealer issues and they repeatedly asked us to work things out with our dealer after we very clearly communicated to them that this was out of the question . A VP of the company was CC'd on all our communications and neither he or the Laurysen rep that is handling the warranty issue did anything to help us.

We are aware of at least 3 other kitchens in the area this year that have gone thru the same issues; this is not an anomaly and Laureysen doesn't seem to be proactive with their Quality practices to fix it. We are not sure why awards are being given to this manufacturer; but I wouldn't recommend them at all to anyone wanting to renovate their kitchen.

My wife and I shopped around quite a bit and had been discouraged by the proposals we were getting for our kitchen renovation. When we were about to give up hope, my wife's colleague recommended that we go meet with Wael Bakr from Laurysen Kitchens. Boy, are we ever glad we did! Wael was amazing, always providing the very best service and ideas imaginable. We arrived for our appointment with some approxiamate measurements and Wael walked us through the showroom, discussing options and getting a feel for our preferences. After the walk through, we sat with him and he proposed some really amazing ideas. Wael allowed us to explore many beautiful possibilities all the while doing so respectfully and considering our input, needs and budget. Furthermore, he came over the next day (on a Sunday!) to take precise measurements so that he could provide us with a detailed plan ASAP. While walking through our home, he made some suggestions about some of our other rooms, and really implemented the style of our house in his proposals. After these interactions with Wael, it was certain we would sign the contract with Laurysen. The installer Dave was really great as well, incredibly meticulous and precise, doing little extras to ensure everything would be perfect. Dave even became friends with my dogs! After the install, the follow ups and minor touch ups were done within a quick timeframe. Back to Wael, not only does the kitchen look amazing, but Wael came with us to pick out lighting, backsplash, decorations, etc and has always been there to make great recommendations on our finishing touches. Thank you Wael for your amazing service, great attitude and wonderful presence! We are incredibly satisfied and will (and already have) recommended Laurysen to our friends. Thanks again.
