Smart Roofing Inc.

The guys showed up just before 7 am as I was leaving for work. 5 pm, I come home and they are just about wrapping up the job (which is just over 1/3 the time it took another company to do a neighbours roof just a week prior). Overall I'm very pleased with the work they did. They even went as far as to canvas the lawn in the backyard at the end of the job to make sure no nails and whatnot fell on the grass ( I have a dog).

They were good. They seemed very educated on what they were doing. Will recommend them to a friend. Was a bit dissatisfied with some of the mess they made. But they did end up cleaning it up after.

We had some damaged shingles that needed repairing so we called Smart Roofing Inc. They did the job quickly and well, they even cleared our roof of leaves for free!

This is the third job I've given to Smart Roofing and I highly recommend them without hesitation as a top quality roofer and company you can depend on when you need them. Jerry came through again and in urgent circumstances. A flat roof that I'd delayed re-doing started to leak into my house causing very upsetting damage. Picture Jerry -- during his busiest season -- trying to calm down a crying woman (yes, that was me, I swear I'm not like that at work!) who was helpless to stop water from coming into her beautiful house. Somehow, Jerry made it happen, the roof got redone and just in time before the next rain AND before my husband and I went on a vacation. It was a huge relief. Jerry is one of the few contractors that I truly trust when he recommends something, I know he's not just trying to make more work for his company, but trying to do an excellent job for a fair price, with a warranty that he stands behind and that's hard to beat. Many thanks to you and your team Jerry, they worked so hard and were SO tired after the unexpected 5 layers of roofing they had to strip off!

I had five quotes for our new roof Bob was the last I spoke with & he sensed my frustration on the phone but went on & answered all my questions and set up a meeting. He was the most professiional, knowledgeable and honest of the lot. His price was competitive & I have a warranty from both Smart Roofing and the shingle manufacturer because his installers are master roofers. The crew worked well and left the property spotlesss.
There are alot of salesmen trying to upsell at an enormous cost and saying if you don't do it their way there is no warranty. Making claims to scare such as saying that the wood underlay would be full of mould and must be removed and that all the soffits needed replacing.

To avoid all of these people I highly recommend Smart Roofing.

I was very impressed with smart roofing. They installed the roof efficiently and in a timely manor. The were neat and tidy, and cleaned up the area around my home. The roofers were polite, and displayed excellent attention to detail. My roof looks fantastic and I highly recommend Smart Roofing INC.

When I bought my house 7 years ago, the building inspector said that the roof would need replacing within a year. Needless to say, after 7 years the shingles stated falling off with each windstorm. I consulted Homestars and contacted several top-rated roofers.

Russ from Smart Roofing was very prompt and knowledgable and explained all my options to me. Apparently, my roof had a layer of old wood shingles along with two additional layers of asphalt shingles (which probably explains why it looked so bad, but didn't leak). There was also some soffet repair that was needed and Russ wrote this into the quote along with a cost.

As I was happy with Russ' servivce and price, I called and indicated that I would like to accept the quote including the upgrade shingle ($350 extra).

My new attached neighbours expressed interest in replacing their roof too, so contacted Russ and agreed a quote to get it all done at the same time with the same shingles.

The work:
Quality work throughout. The entire job took 4 long days with the guys working hard, long hours, often to 9pm. Cleanup was excellent and the finished product looks fantastic.

Issues:
Small issues, but a little annoying. The lead time turned out to be double the estimate communicated by Russ. Nothing communicated.
The soffet work detailed in the contract was not done and Smart Roofing seemed surprised that there was additional work to be done. Smart had to wait until Russ returned from vacation to clarify, even though it was clearly written in the contract.
Several weeks later, soffet work was completed to the expected high standard.

Overall:
The issues were minor and the work did end up being completed to a very high standard (which is all that really matters). The price was very competitive and fair. I would not hesitate to recommend Smart Roofing to others (I have already recommended them to my other neighbours).

I hired smart roofing about 1.5 y ago. I supervised the job every minute from start to finish to ensure everything went according to what I paid for. I would say that Smart Roofing did an absolutely perfect job. Not a single small mistake at all. I would hire them again in a heart beat.
