Plumbing Mart

We will never go back to nor will we ever recommend anyone to go to Plumbing Mart. The service is both inept & horrible. To begin, we went to 3 different suppliers/contractors and PM had the highest quote. However, we did like the purewood vanity & medicine cabinet that we saw at their store. We ordered these items along with a countertop & sink. We placed our order a month in advance of our scheduled renovations being told that they would arrive in time. A few weeks later, we were told it would be late - so we delayed our renovations by a week. Then we were told that their delivery person quit & could not pick up the vanity/cabinet from the supplier and that we would have to pick it up. That was rectified AFTER saying we would not pick it up. There is even more, but why bother... just do yourself a favour and stay away!

PM contracted to rebuild an exisitng stud/ drywall surround shower with a glass surround. After we paid 50% deposit, and before they started any work, they demanded $300 extra to move water supply line, which is where the glass surround will be. I refused, they kept the 50% deposit and offered to deliver materials only. Long story short, I went to Small Claims court and they counter sued for the balance, having done no work! After 9 months of stalling on their part I won in Small Claims court. I am now trying to collect. We also had many delays to work commencement. Mark Noonan the owner is a scoundrel. I recomend that no one ever use these guys! Don't believe "We design, we install, no extras". They cannot design properly and they are all about extras.

Last year, I was shopping for a contractor to do a complete bathroom renovation. I went to Plumbing Mart because they were close by, and seemed to have a reasonable range of bathroom accessories and shower stalls.

I met with one of the salespeople, described what I was looking for, and specifically asked that they provide me with a quote that detailed the cost off all materials and goods, and separately showed the estimate for labour. The person agreed, and told me he would get back to me within a week.

One week later, I received a phone call, asking me to come to their showroom for a "presentation". "Presentation?" I said. "I wanted a written estimate".

I was told I would get this when I came to see them. So I made an appointment. When I met the salesperson, I told him that before he started on the presentation, I just wanted to confirm that I would receive a quote for the job in the way I asked, and not just one bundled number. He then told me they don't do that - they would only quote one total number that included everything.

I asked him if he understood my original request to have the costs broken out in detail. He confirmed he did, but couldn't give me a quote that way.

I then told him he should have declared that when I first saw him, so that he wouldn't waste my time as well as his. I told him I thought their practice was deceptive and somewhat dishonest, and walked out without listening to the "presentation".

Worst renovation experience of my life! A promised 2 week job turned into 3 months. Product was not delivered when promised. Sales person lied regarding delivery of product. Project foreman attempted to cover up work which was not done to building code. Trades walked off job due to no compensation from Plumbing Mart from past jobs. Foreman argued with trades on my property. Job was finished by my chosen trades after I fired Plumbing Mart. I will never walk into a Plumbing Mart store even just to purchase a faucet.
