Rick from McLaughlin flooring helped us out a lot. He gave us plenty of tips from selecting hardwood to removing baseboards and carpet, all before we hired him. He was always friendly and was never bothered by our constant questions. Atilla and Thomas were great installers. They'd show up on time and stay late when needed. Jordon & Matt did a terrific job! I had approximately 1800 sq ft of carpeting removed and natural solid oak flooring & new baseboards installed. The guys arrived promptly each day, worked conscientiously throughout the day and were very productive. They removed furniture from the rooms for me, even disassembling furniture as required. When a room was completed, they checked with me as to where I wanted the furniture placed. After each day they tidied up inside & outside. They conducted themselves in a professional manner. After searching for most of the summer and visiting many sites and showrooms, we decided to have McLauglin flooring do our upstairs hardwood and stair refinishing job. What a pleasure. Jordan, the owners son, came and did measurements and we set up a time and date for the work to start. We moved everything except the big furniture out of the bedrooms and closets and they showed up a few minutes early the day they were going to start. Jordan and Steven got all the carpet cleared out and disposed of and then got the subfloor screwed down and ready for the new hardwood. They found a problem that required Rick the owner to come in and fix and it was resolved quickly and well. We had decide we
were going to get new baseboards and were going to paint them before installation so Rick & Jordan dropped the materials off a few days before the start of the project on a Saturday! The baseboards they provided were so nicely finished that we ended up not painting them. The hardwood was in and baseboards installed in 4 days and we had over 1200 sq ft being done! Time frame was exactly as promised. Any questions I had were quickly answered and even when we changed our minds about a few things there was no problem, they met our requests. They worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done and were always pleasant and put my mind at ease. They cleaned up all materials and swept up every night before they left and on the last day even swept out the garage and left a partial box of the hardwood neatly in the garage. Rick came over later that night to pick up the baseboards they had not used and I told him how pleased we were with the job. All in all a wonderful experience for such an invasive and harrowing ordeal. My husband & I had moved to our basement suite during the job so we weren't in their way at all during the week. I had several quotes and they were thousands of dollars less than most of them. Very professional, punctual, honest and easy going company. My second experience started the Monday after Jordan finished my hardwood and it involved David who works with McLaughlin and is their stair refinishing guy. Same great service. In and gave an estimate for our curved stairs, landing, pickets and handrail to be finished. Again estimate was $2000 less because he was able to save and reuse all of the pickets and posts which saved us a lot of money. David worked diligently for the week and taped plastic to doors leading to my living room and kitchen to keep the dust to a minimum. Came back in the new week to put the final finish coats on the stairs and they turned out beautifully. Matched the new hardwood perfectly and cleaned up every night before he left. I would definitely recommend David to anyone needing stair refinishing and you can contact him through McLaughlin Flooring. I was desperate when I searched the internet one night in frustration. I came across reviews on Rick and have left a voice message. Within 2 days Rick called me, and we took it from there. Eg, he has squeezed me into his busy schedule, and has transformed my bedrooms and hallway like magic. I am still very impressed at the awesome work he and his team had performed. Neat clean work. They were fast and efficient. The cost was mind blowing. eg. far economical than previous quotes. I strongly recommend McLaughlin Flooring Installation. Just ask for Rick, and honestly, you will be glad you did.

Last summer Rick and his team re-floored two rooms of our house with hardwood flooring. They did a great job, so of course I wanted them back to re-floor the kitchen this year. The existing floor was super cheap laminate, which was covering up 40 year old stick-on tiles. So there were some layers to remove before they could get to the job of laying sub-floor. This house is over a hundred years old, and nothing is level or straight anywhere. (Except the floors that Rick has done!) There was one particularly problematic area in the kitchen, where the floor was about 1.5 inches below level. I had a couple of other contractors in to quote on the floor. One said it was impossible to fix. The other said all he could do was pour self-levelling cement in the corner and hope it didn't run off somewhere it shouldn't. (OMG). But Rick wasn't afraid to take on what these other guys saw as "impossible". He's an artist when it comes to levelling up floors, and arranges the shims in various intricate ways to accommodate the rise or fall of the floor. He does really good, detailed work, as you can see from the pictures. It's really excellent to have a level floor now!

Between last year's and this year's re-flooring projects, I've had 4 different quotes besides Rick's. Most of them wanted to just slap down new floor on top of old floor and then charge a lot for this service. Rick gave me a detailed quote on a complete job, no half measures, and still came in below the others. He ripped up old floor, laid new sub-floor, levelled it all up, laid the new flooring, then installed quarter-round or baseboard as required. Plus the team did a perfect job of installation. Nothing sloppy. All corners tight and straight. Then they cleaned up everything when they were done, including sweeping up inside and out. They arrived precisely on time at 8am, and were completely done by 530pm.

Rick is a stand-up guy, straight forward and trustworthy. The guys who work with him (including his son Jordan) are decent, hard-working, talented and professional.
