The Chesterfield Shop is a JOKE

My wife and I ordered and put down a $1,000.00 deposit on a set of sofas in the last week of August and were told the manufacturing and delivery would take about 5-7 weeks which in our case worked out perfectly as our house closing was at the end of October (approx 8 weeks from our purchase date). Our closing came and went and we hadn't heard anything. When we called to inquire, we were informed that one of the factories that normally manufactured the style of sofa that we had ordered went belly-up and closed its doors. The Chesterfield Shop assured us that they had no idea why this had happened and had no details as to the status of our order but they would call us within a week to inform us. One week passed....and no call. So we called and spoke to Jennifer, "the manager". Without any apology for not keeping us informed, she coldly told us that she had no update and does not know the status of our order. How is that possible? What kind of company has no clue as to where their products are? Jennifer went on to tell us that she would call us back in a week with an update....but history would tell us that this probably would not happen. Another week passed....no call. I called Jennifer again and expressed my frustration and after about 20 mins of verbally going back and forth....I was given a $350.00 rebate on my order and a guarantee that the sofas would be ready and delivered within 3 weeks. Once again...that timeline came and went....I called this past Monday morning to ask where my couches were....the individual who picked up the phone gave me a guaranteed date of December 12th, which would make it just short of 14 weeks (7 weeks more then originally quoted at the time of purchase). Out of frustration I asked to speak with Jennifer again and of course she was too busy to talk so I forcefully demanded to speak with her. She finally came on the phone and informed me that December 12th was not actually a guaranteed date but an estimate and she said that she can't even promise that we would have them by Christmas (approx 16 weeks). She said "its not the end of the world" and that statement was the last straw for me. It was clear to me at that moment that my order hadn't even been started by the manufacturer. After many attempted excuses from Jennifer, she finally agreed to refund my deposit. And now Im back to square one, BUT, I never have to deal with this ridiculous company ever again and I would strongly suggest that anyone considering purchasing couches from Chesterfield take a step back and take the time to read the reviews because disgruntled consumers have a reason to be disgruntled.

For those of you still enduring that test of patience….call Jennifer, the "manager" at Chesterfield's head office at 416-667-1150…I'm sure she would love to hear from her valued customers.

Condo Sleeper

Went to the Chesterfield Shop because I had heard they have a large selection of sleeper sofas and they did. I dealt with Jordan and he was great at helping me pick out a couch that would fit in my condo and an appropriate fabric. Couch was delivered only about a week later than estimated (but I did order over Christmas). Delivery team was great too!

Sectional Sofa

Beware before purchasing furniture with this store! The experience and customer service has been horrible ever since they took our deposit. Very similar to other customer reviews, it has now been 4 months that we are waiting for our couch and The Chesterfield Shop has done NOTHING to compensate or to make us, their customers, happy and lighten the blow of waiting 4months, going on 5, for the couch that was supposed to take 4-6weeks. They dance around the issue and can't seem to communicate properly with their manufacturers. DO NOT PURCHASE HERE!

Couch

Similar story to a lot of the other dissatisfied customer reviews. Purchased a sofa 4 months ago now and put a deposit down. Still have not received my couch, and every time I call they give me another excuse as to why it will be another 3 weeks. Attempted to get my deposit back but was unable to. DO NOT BUY FURNITURE HERE, you will wait way longer then what they tell you. I am starting to wonder if I will ever see my couch.

Sectional Sofa

*BUYER BEWARE*

Bought my sectional and spent $2400 on it. Shortly after called customer service as I had some concerns.

They sent someone to my home.

The material which pills like crazy I'm told is not defective. I was instructed to just use a clothes shaver. Even though they admitted that they know the material does this, they do nothing to let their salespeople know so that the customer can be well informed at the time of purchase OR why don't they just pull the material out of their catalogue?

The corner piece of the sectional doe not fit well to the adjacent ones. I'm to to shimmy the outer leg of the corner piece. He even questioned whether my floor was level. I offered to supply a level, but never taken up on the offer.

The pillows are too soft and unsupportive on the edges. I was told that is the only kind the manufacturer makes. How difficult is it for the store to order foam from another company, cut to size and deliver it to me?

Asolutely no effort made to recify my concerns, just one excuse after another.

2 Leather Couches

As usual the Chesterfield Shop is the only place I would buy furniture. My family has always only dealt with this company and I am appreciative that I did once again. They are helpful and stand behind their products.
Approx. 6 years ago I purchased two beautiful white leather couches. I loved these couches and received compliments from many. However, as time went on a strange thing happened. The couches were somewhat sinking in the middle.
Even though these couches were slightly past their warrenty with the manufacturer, the Chesterfield Shop stood behind what they had sold me. They had a repair person repair the couches and my family are once again enjoying them.
THANK YOU CHESTERFIELD SHOP AND ESPECIALLY BOB.
You handled the situation with professionalism and knowledge and have kept a large extended family as customers !!!
We wouldn't shop anywhere else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sofa Purchase

We purchased a sofa and loveseat on Jan 6th. We were told we needed to order them due to our colour choice and it would take eight weeks to build and deliver. We're now sitting at 11 weeks with the latest expected delivery date set at 14 weeks. The date has changed every time we've called and I'm not holding my breath it won't change again. In addition, there doesn't seem to be any concern from the company itself once they have your money. It's too bad because the purchase experience was great. We will not however deal with these people again.

Condo-sized sofa

My experience with the Chesterfield Shop was fantastic. On my first visit to have a look around, the staff member was very helpful. He answered all my questions, showed me several options in condo-sized sofas (they call them city size) and explained some of the difference in quality. After shopping around at several more stores, the Chesterfield shop was the only one who carried exactly what I wanted and it was at a competitive price. Ordering the couch went very smoothly and I received my couch even earlier than expected - exactly three weeks later. I love it! It is exactly what I wanted. I would definitely buy another sofa at the Chesterfield Shop and I would (and have) recommended it to family and friends.

custom loveseat

I always thought that the 'Chesterfield shop' was the place to go when looking for a sofa or loveseat. My entire family has stopped there for as long as I remember.

I recently had an experience that I won't soon forget. All I can say is BUYER BEWARE.

If there is something wrong with your furniture whether it is bought in the clearance section or custom ordered, do not expect any consideration from the management there, especially their Customer Service Manager at the Dufferin St. location

I will be telling my friends and family to really think before shopping there.

Totally disappointed. Maybe if you spent thousands they would treat you better, who knows.

leather sectional

March 20 purchased a $3000. leather sectional based after we shopped around on delivery time from other retailers. we where promised the date of delivery of April 17 just over 4 weeks for our new home . I put a depoit of $600 cash down.Two 2 days prior I went in as they had not called me...apparently the computer captured the wrong number and the left a message for someone else. I was told it would be an additional 2 more weeks. I search the store for something else...there was no manager available be me to speak to. The sales rep told me to wait and get the sofa I truly wanted. The next day we had a death in the family and we where rushed to by furniture for our home to accominate guest. They called a week later to say it would be in in a additional week. I told them the order was on hold. someone called again to say that it was now in 6 weeks later and again I said on hold as I was awaiting the refund and to visit the store as I was told I had to come in in person . I went in 2 additional times to be told it had to be approved or discussed with a manager. I never recieved a call until i called 8 or 9 times. I had a return call on June 3 from the CUSTOMER CARE MANAGER. WHO WAS RUDE AND BOLD AND DID NOT care to listen to the problem or situation. The sale rep had since been fired he said and I agreed that he most luckly only told be the date he could deliver to keep his sale. Never the less I was never told I could not get my deposit back, that it was a special order even though the floor model was not available and we chose the same color and leather.I never signed a document was was explained their Policies. The store told me they are KEEPING my $600 and refund no credit. This is a disgraceful organization. For everyone who takes the time to say they are unhappy there is ten people who do not. Spend your money wisely ..and not here. I will have to take them to small claims court.
