I chose Ashton Renovations from 3 contractors I received quotes from, largely on the basis of the sense of trust that Mark engendered when we met. Mark gave the most detailed quote and was careful to explain the limitation and constraints that would be faced in renovating my 90 year bathroom and gave me good awareness of some potential areas that might lead to additional cost during the work (eg. potential for asbestos). Overall, the renovation went smoothly, and any issues were resolved to my satisfaction and Mark consistently followed up when anything wasn't going according to plan to ensure a resolution. I was quite comfortable to have his work crew in the house when I wasn't home and felt that things were in good hands with Mark at the helm. The renovation did take longer than initially expected, but this was offset by the good workmanship and additional work that was put in to deal with problems that arose (eg part of the ceiling below the bathroom came down due to fragility from prior water damage and this was very effectively repaired). The final bathroom looks wonderful and is much more functional than the old one. Mark gave several good suggestions that helped ensure a cohesive design that is sympathetic to the age of the house, while providing total modern convenience. I would be happy to recommend Ashton Renovations to friends and family.

Company Response

Thanks Donald. We're glad you were comfortable with our crews in your home.

I approached Sun Polishing to see if they could do anything with the original 1920's brass door hardware from the interior doors of my Arts & Crafts style home (6 sets). The hardware was in good working order, but the finish was in a dreadful condition, with the brass having worn through to the base metal after years of polishing, and everything black with dirt, corrosion and rust on the base metal. The friendly staff at Sun Polishing advised me on how a couple of different finishes & polishes could be mixed to give a final appearance that was sympathetic to the age of the pieces i.e. to avoid a brassy and cheap look! Final results are wonderful and have achieved a nice, warm aged look, but still with a pristine finish. Costs were very reasonable and I was impressed that they even diligently walked me through what I would need to do to re-assemble the parts (since they had to take the hardware completely apart to do the work).
