I've dealt with RCC since 1998 - they've always got the job done quickly and with very little mess. This time (and the last) I met with Mauro who is a very laid-back and likeable fellow. He took the measurements and gave me a written estimate on a Monday. By Friday, Roger and his crew arrived, did their usual setup to protect the surrounding landscaping (including the neighbor's) and completed the job (a 30-foot dig) by the end of the day. At the end of it all you hardly knew they were there! Fantastic job as usual!

We hired this company to resolve a persistent problem with our furnace which they did after 3 visits spanning about 10 years. This was admirable. We liked the service so we decided to hire them to look at our air conditioning system (indoor and outdoor components) which was 15 years old and was leaking Freon quite freely. At the time, we wanted a high-efficiency unit that would help reduce our power bills and qualify for the Home Improvement tax credit that was available at the time. Instead we got a Goodman (outdoor) unit that was no more efficient than the old unit, did not qualify for the tax credit and 5 years later out-of-warranty, the Freon leak still exists. We contacted another company to diagnose the leak and learned that the leak was in the indoor components. Furthermore, we learned that the use of R-22 (Freon) is being phased out by government mandate (Montreal Protocol) in favour of a more environmentally friendly refrigerant (R-410A) which will not work in units that use R-22. In fact, the production of R-22 has decreased (it will stop in 2020) and as expected, the cost per pound has already increased drastically. This explained why the salesperson expressed some agitation with my choices and insisted that we purchase the Goodman (R-22) unit back in 2009 - they were clearing inventory because production of R-22 units would stop beginning in 2010. Of course none of this was mentioned to us back in 2009. Mea Culpa, but I will not trust this company ever again and I strongly recommend against anyone dealing with them.

At times we are governed to work with customers budgets. In this case, had they moved to the next level of a quality unit, there would not have been an issue. Internet complaints can be made from anyone. I can say this, I never heard or spoke to this customer so please contact me personally with your concerns. Thanks for posting.

Our first contact with this company was at the showroom and it was a pleasant surprise for a couple of reasons. Although it was a bit smaller than I anticipated, there was a good representation of the products on offer, both doors and openers. The other reason was that the sales rep. (Chris) was instantly likeable while being patient and sincere with answering our questions and describing the products. If he didn't sell garage doors for a living he could sell surf boards in Southern California - really laid back. The next contact was the meeting with Kevin for the estimate. As soon as he stepped out of the truck, he kinda scared me because he seemed to be in an altered mental state (not in the here and now). I soon realized that he was already assessing the entire situation to ensure we chose the right style and colour of doors to complement the look of the house. He's like the Rain Man of garage doors. As soon as he snapped out of his trance, he was just as amiable as Chris and clearly an expert. Kevin provided several options for the work to be done in a very matter-of-fact way with absolutely no pressure to choose any single option over another. We signed up immediately. The next contact was again from Chris just to let us know that the installer would be at the house, ten-ish in the morning. Fine. Ten-ish turned into almost eleven-thirty-ish which was not a problem but it would have been nice to get a call just so we could have planned the morning a bit better. The installer was Ryan and this guy is just fantastic! I offered to give him a hand but he made it clear - he rolls alone. Within minutes, Ryan unloaded the truck and set to work dismantling the old doors and openers, replacing some twisted framing then into the new installation. I noticed that the wrong openers were given to him and he acted quickly to correct that situation (another installer dropped by with the proper openers). I left Ryan alone for the duration (about 5 hours) and the result was spectacular! New doors, new tracks and hardware, new openers all installed perfectly. Ryan even swept the entire garage! The garage looks like a showroom! After a quick run-through about the controls, the job was done and he was off! Bottom line - I highly recommend this company despite a couple of minor hiccups (they really need to automate their invoice/contract/work-order system). I would absolutely do business with them again!

I Love the review it was a fun read. You nailed our personalities down. I had a chuckle when reading about Kevin because it is so true, until he has everything laid out in his mind he is in his own world, once he has it figured out, he's back. I have to apologize for being late to the site it was a very hectic morning for Ryan. That said there is no excuse for being late especially with no phone call. That is my job and I'm sorry for not keeping you in the loop. Automation on our invoicing is something I have been thinking about, but scared to do. I appreciate this feedback and I will look into this further, it would likely be a great system to have in place. It was nice to read the comment on Ryan P he is a great asset to our company and he is meticulous with his workmanship. Ryan will enjoy reading your review this afternoon. Thanks again for your business, your support, and your feedback. Chris Dale, Kevin Chappel, Ryan P, Markham Garage Doors ltd.
