data and low voltage wiring installation
I hired Al of Raven Imex through my general contractor. He seemed nice and easy to talk to when I first met him. My first problem was when did the entire installation of my data wiring in steel studs without grommets (the cushions that prevent the steel stud edges from cutting through the insulation and possibly the wire.) These are required in steel stud when the wire is not armoured, and take literally less than 1 minute to install and cost a few cents each. Unfortuntely, the inspector didn't catch this. Al told me that the only way to fix this would be to rip everything out and redo it, at my cost, and with a significant time delay. He then tried to "mickey mouse" a fix by taping some plastic plumbing tubing around the wires in the hole, but that made it worse in the hole that was already overstuffed by pushing the wires with more pressure into the sharp edges of the steel. When the situation was finally resolved (with me doing some of the repairs) He finally did the finishing work, installing the covers crooked on 5/6 outlets and at least one of the outlets doesn't work! Instead of calling him back to fix it, I'd rather call a professional who can follow the Electrical Code. Good luck finding someone!
