Granstone did well at every stage of our renovation and we're very happy with our new kitchen. The Quote - While many companies will give you a quote based on general information you supply, and then adjust that price upwards as you select the actual products you want e.g. countertop, cupboards, floors, backsplash, etc., Granstone waits until you have selected the major items before giving you a price. They will guide you without pushing in terms of materials based on what you tell them and advise you based on design and quality etc. The result of this approach is that the price they quote is the same as the price you pay - or very close if there are changes made during the process. Unlike most other companies I have heard of or dealt with, the price can also be lower. For example, in our case the price of a subfloor was included in the estimate, but wasn't needed once the parquet was lifted, so that cost was removed. The next part of the process we really appreciated was that Granstone will not start the job until all the items (cupboards, countertop, backsplash etc.) are in their possession. This approach drastically reduces the likelihood of delays - or the length of delays if there are any. Most of the major work is completed by employees, with only a few jobs assigned to subcontractors, and most of those subcontractors have a close to exclusive relationship with Granstone. We did encounter some issues with a couple of the subcontractors not showing up as scheduled, but Granstone reacted quickly to either replace them or in one case the site manager himself offered to come over immediately and do the work. Regarding the work itself, we were very pleased with the quality of the work and materials. Inevitably renovations uncover unwelcome surprises - ductwork where you weren't expecting it or the remains of old water damage to the subfloor in our case. The extra cost incurred by these were minimal and reasonable. Communication was excellent. In our case the project manager was also the designer and she would get back to me very quickly when I had any questions. Usually calls were returned within minutes and always the same day. At the end of the project, we were pleasantly surprised that Granstone had hired professional cleaners to come in and clean any areas affected by the renovations, including access routes to the kitchen (hallways, entrance ways etc.). Finally, all the Granstone employees who were involved in our kitchen Reno (particularly Stephanie, Levi, Ryan and their teams) were great people - kind, friendly, respectful and honest. Simply put, they were nice people to have around. It's been five months since our renovation was completed and we still get a lift every time we walk into our kitchen. I highly recommend Granstone and would use them again.
