Our home, built in 1910, needed some extensive work done. We wanted the stone foundation waterproofed; surrounding weeping tile and a sump pump installed, which required the demolition and removal of the solid cement front entry stairs and an equally solid stair slab at the rear; the original cast iron connection to the sanitary line needed to be removed and updated; and, the old iron town water line needed to be updated to copper. We felt concerned about disturbing the old stone foundation, however, in addition to our other requirements was the fact that the pressure exerted on the foundation by the cement slabs had created cracks in their two locations and this situation would need to be addressed, sooner, before it became urgent later. In due diligence, five companies were lined up for estimates, only two of which were capable and/or willing to do all that we were asking without having to contract out to do certain parts of the job, i.e. cement removal, plumbing, and the disconnection/reconnection of the air conditioner unit. We did await all the responses but truly, after our meeting with Carl from Canada Water Proofers, for us, the deal had been pretty much sealed. He was not intimidated by working on a century home with its old stone foundation, or by the scope of the work we needed; and because of his reassuring confidence and the fact that he offered THE best estimate for the entire job, we chose Canada Water Proofing. And from the moment the crew arrived, early, for work the first day, satisfaction with our decision steadily increased. The crew was exemplary! They went straight to work each day, skillfully and carefully completing the days plan, and, at the end of the day making sure the site (inside and out) was tidy. It is tough work and this was craftsmanship at its best! The entire job was completed in a mere 7 days and, the cherry on top, well within estimate. In 2019 our old wooden retaining wall and walkway was in dire need of replacement and it was high time to restore our front garden, which had, by mid-summer in the last few years, begun to look quite unkempt. We had admired the landscapes at several residences here in our own neighborhood and upon asking, were enthusiastically provided with contact information for Cardinal Landscape Construction and Woodworks. As we were new to having this kind of work done, when we met with David it was a big relief that he was able to create order out of our list of needs and wants, guide and assist us regarding the selection of materials, and, liaise with the town on our behalf to ensure all necessary paperwork was in order. David is prompt in returning text messages and emails and has no problem with accommodating the customers must haves. Work was scheduled to commence on November 1st ... just as Mother Nature commenced the fiercest November weather we can remember but, undaunted, David and his crew came out and worked hard. They moved the earth, placed the armor stone skillfully and artistically, made our front walkway a pleasure to traverse (and to shovel), and created a beautiful fresh canvas.
