Diagnostics of problem and strategy to solve it for my Trane X90 gas furnace
I've got a relatively new house relying on home inspection guys who assured me that equipment is in good condition and will serve quite long, but 6 months after it turned out that previous owners never looked after the heating equipment and it failed after 6 years of service - blower motor filled the house with burn smell and hardly giving any heat. This happened right during Easter holidays and equipment dealers were off, except Renato, who came up within an hour, diagnosing the problem, reasons why it happened and how to solve it. The consensus was that the change of motor would cost about 30% of new equipment with risks of failure of another component. Also this part was responsible for moving air masses for air conditioner, so I had no choice to postpone the repair until fall. I didn't want any surprises and decided to replace the old furnace to a brand new American Standard Freedom 95 model. We agreed to have it installed in a couple of days in the evening, which was really convenient for me, as I have all day devoted to my core activities. On the day, Renato and his colleague quickly uninstalled old equipment, checked up whatever has to be critical for future work and installed a new furnace, making tweaks here and there (properly installing the input, replacing non-compliant piping with white gas pipes and so on). Once everything was done the team instructed me on how I should go from now on to keep the equipment in good shape, explained possible problems on cases when furnace/dry air might damage my hardwood floors, and how to get a government rebate. I really like these guys and their work and highly recommend anyone who is looking for a good contractor with personal touch.
