Beware of Incompetent Appliance Repair Company

My experience with this company was a complete disaster. They claimed to be experts, but their incompetence was evident from the start. They misdiagnosed the issue, performed unnecessary repairs, and charged a hefty fee. Their customer service was terrible, with no professionalism or punctuality. To top it off, their "fix" lasted less than a week. This company is a disgraceful outfit that preys on customers. Avoid them at all costs; they are nothing but dishonest.

Dryer Repair

Called these guys last weekend whn our dryer quit. They told me $80 to have a technician come out and take a look. Technician arrived Early Sunday and diagnosed a blown fuse. Now the bill is $290? But wait, turn the dryer on and now the fuse blows again. ( not surprised because something causes the fuse to blow, right?). So now the heater element is shorting and must be replaced. The heater element is another $165 but oddly he doesn't add any more labour because he's already charged me $290 to change a fuse. Tech comes back Monday afternoon with a new heater element, replaces it, takes the balance of his money and leaves. Thursday when my wife started laundry she fired up the dryer and after running for about 15 seconds it shut down again. Call the Appliance Team back and guess what? Now it's a warranty issue and has to be ' investigated '... seriously? We've called 4 times now and and the file is locked and they can't do anything until the warranty department unlocks the file. I like so many wish that I had read all the reviews first but it was the weekend and we were half way through our laundry. Website looked legit, they were very responsive on the phone so all seemed good. Keep looking, don't use these guys. Never mind the customer service issues, they still haven't diagnosed the problem. God help them if the do show up and are looking for more money!

Terrible ethics.

Dishwasher won't drain. Found them after a quick search and thought 80$ for the visit deducted from labor later was fair.
They come earlier than expected when only the wife is home, then proceed to debit the labor cost before even diagnosing the issue.
The part needed (a pump, gee whiz) will take days to come and costs an additional 400$ or so. But for now I've already paid the labor, and when I choose not to have them fix the dishwasher I obviously can't get a refund for the labor that had not fully taken place.

Overpriced and pressure to pay before do anything

Should have read reviews first. $80 service fee that is waved if needs repair and you go ahead. That never happens. They came and looked at my washer. Never heard any tools or sounds of work being done then gave my wife a bill for 333 plus the parts additional 780. They said needs new computer board. And demanded cash or etransfer immediatly. They did say no additional charge when parts come. Of course not you got your labor already. Nothing about the service fee and high pressure to pay cash on the spot. Mabey the work would have been ok in the end but the entire process felt like they were ringing cash out of my wife because she didn't know any better. Never again with these people. Find someone honest who at least puts some effort into the service call then gives you your options and cost

Just stay away

DO NOT USE THEM
I have a problem with the washer. Called this company as they came up first in a google search. They sent a technician same day. He went straight to work, with no diagnosis, replaced a $40 part (charged $175) for $290 in labour for less than an hour. Noted some other parts may need replacing, which he did not recommend. He ran a test on an empty machine and it seemed to work. Tried to wash a load, this time there was a grinding noise (new) and no motion at all (new). It seems like we were worse off than before calling A Team Appliance Repair.
So I called customer service and they said they saw the technicians note. Okay we needed new parts, and labour would now be included. They came back wtih a parts quote of $784, more than double the cost of the parts from LG Canada. All said, this would have cost $400 more than a brand new washing machine.

Don't be the next victim - They don't deserve even 1 star rating...

When I called them for repair a washer, they said $80 service charge which will be waived if it requires any repair.
When the technician came, he said it was a misaligned belt that would cost $295 plus tax to fix then got a signature to start. Then he opened the unit (4 screws in 2 minutes) and immediately said it requires additional parts which cost $483 plus tax. When refused the service, he demanded $295 plus tax and threatened to send me to collection if I don't pay.

If you're reading this, either you're very smart, researching this company first (congratulations!) or you're just another one of many innocent consumers that have been a victim of this company.
I later called another company that just replaced the belt, which was exactly what it needed, and repaired the washer for only $110 plus tax.
Looking at the many other reviews here, this is not a one off incident but exactly what this company does, making money off of innocent people for made up repairs and parts.

Appliance Repair

If youre reading this before you call them, its your lucky day - avoid them at all costs!! If youve already booked the service, pay the minimum fee and ask them to leave - its the best money youll ever spend.

In my case, they said I needed a new part for my Sub-Zero fridge, and quoted about $2,800. When I expressed my surprise, they told me theyre an approved Sub-Zero service provider and this is the official cost.

I wish Id followed my gut and just paid the service charge. I did some investigating and quickly determined that their price was nearly 10 times what this part would normally cost.

It took about a month for them to get the part. After they installed it, they said not to touch the control display (the new part allegedly installed) for 12 hours to allow the relay board to reset. This is how they get to leave before you figure out that they havent even fixed the problem.

When I called to tell them the problem wasnt fixed, they came back and said I needed another $2,000 part, and refused to give me a refund for the part that didnt fix the problem.

I got a referral from Sun-Zero directly, and they advised me they get many complaints about this company, and theyve been cut off from getting parts.

The other company came and proved that all parts in my fridge were factory originals, and nothing had even been replaced. The problem was fixed for $300 plus installation.

Despite repeated attempts, the company has refused to refund me. Theyre a finely oiled machine designed to defraud the public. Despite articles by CTV and CBC and brutal reviews on consumer protection sites, they continue to be in business.

I hope this review helps others avoid a similar experience.
