We recently bought a property that needed major updates on the main floor and complete renovation of the basement. We wanted to be compliant to the citys building, renovation, and zoning requirements. As such, we were very particular that whoever we engaged for the contract has the capability and experience in delivering what is required while at the same time be able to ensure compliance.

After doing extensive research and receiving quotes from several contractors (some of whom we have already dealt with in the past), we decided to engage Level Up Consulting Group. From the very first meeting with Michael (owner), we felt comfortable even though we had no prior relationship. He was very transparent, giving us a detailed quote with several options, and guiding us through the pros and cons of each. This enabled us to decide on the best option that will meet our requirements and budget. He formalized the quote with a contract protecting our mutual interests, set reasonable timelines, and assured us of the quality delivery that his company is proud of.

Then came the exciting part, meeting and discussing with the Engineer (for the building plans/permits) and the Designer for the interior plans/design). Both were very professional and knowledgeable. They were instrumental in translating our vision into actual plans and design documents that passed the citys approval and paved the way for start of the work.

Michaels construction crew worked efficiently and knew their craft. Each job process seamlessly transitioned to the next until the entire project was completed. As with any construction project, there were some minor hiccups along the way, but Michael managed our expectations well in the process and ensured issues were addressed to our satisfaction.

One thing that stands out with Michael, aside from his expert project management and solid company reputation of providing quality service, is his trustworthiness. He is truly a man of his word, a man of integrity. We were glad we found him.

Michael and team were very professional and transparent from initial quote to job completion. Prices were fair considering market conditions and they stuck to what pricing was quoted with no changes/surprises during the project. Michael guided us on where we should spend more and opportunities to cut back where not required. Michael never said No to any requests/changes throughout the project and also quoted fairly for any additional work that was requested. My project involved everything that is required in finishing an unfinished basement starting with crack injection/sealing, framing, insulation, drywalling, sanding, flooring, painting, to post construction cleaning. I was expecting this project to be a very stressful period but it was completely opposite. I looked forward to the progress that was being made at a breakneck speed and like clockwork everything came together thanks to the careful planning from Michael.

Michael was always available to take my questions and make changes as required so as to not clash with a few other minor projects that were going on around my house. Ashley, their designer, was also very patient in finalizing the design and helping us select the material from the showroom that has an extensive selection of material. I really appreciate the patience the team showed when we were having difficulties concluding on the path forward on some parts of the project. They explained the project plan clearly, answered my questions and concerns with care and attention (sometimes more than once!), offered valuable suggestions and guidance on decisions I was uncertain on, and kept me informed with all that was going well and also on things that did not go per plan which is quite normal with such a project.

After a lot of research and evaluating bids from 5 or 6 different contractors, I decided to go with Level Up Group Contracting. I had been let down by contractors before, so I was worried about going through the same frustration. Michael was reassuring and professional throughout the entire process from his initial consultation to the final touch-ups.

Michael provided us with a defined scope of work, a written contract and great ideas on how to maximize space in our small basement (under 300 sq Ft.) From there, he coordinated a full demolition of the existing basement which took a day and a half. Michaels crew discovered a foundation crack which was quickly repaired by his subcontractor.

We then met with Level Ups designer, Ashley, who worked with us and Michael to measure and design the new basement along with materials. Michael runs his own materials showroom where we could see samples of the material wed be using in the basement. We ended up with a quartz countertop in the laundry, electric fireplace, stone accent wall, cabinetry, new stairs and high-quality laminate flooring.

Once everything was confirmed, construction began at the beginning of February. Even though it was cold and the middle of winter, Michaels crew showed up every day and worked efficiently to complete the job in six weeks, exactly what we were promised according to the contract. This included a full cleaning of the basement when everything was done. After finding a few deficiencies, Michael was quick to send his crew back to correct the smallest of issues such as a dim pot light and flapping doors. He even left us with extra paint in case we need to colour match in the future.

The quality of finish and materials was great. Michael didnt cut corners with our job. Walls and the floor were properly insulated; plumbing and electrical were correctly and expertly installed by licensed people who were great to work with.
