We signed a contract with the Amaris group around middle of August to get 2 of our washrooms renovated with the expectation for the work to start somewhere around beginning of September. At the time of signing the contract we made the payment of 35% of the total value of the project even though the work on the washrooms was supposed to happen in sequence. We waited for the work to start beginning of September but only after multiple emails to the owner we were told that the project manager with whom we had signed the contract had left the company. Multiple people came to visit after that and we had to explain the project to all of them again and again. After multiple iterations details of the project were understood by the contractors and around September end 1 person came with a helper to start the work. During the course of the work we were told that we had to buy all the materials including the dry wall and the pipes and the company only provided for the labour (although the contract said otherwise). After argument with the owner, he did get the dry wall and some other small things but he updated the contract for the other washroom to remove any material. They worked on the first washroom sand within days the helper left the job. This person continued to work without any supervision and after he was finished tiling the shower base and putting tiles everywhere else in the washroom, we realised that the slope of the drain was not correct and the water was not flowing out. This contractor had to remove the tiles 2 times before the slope could be fixed. After this work was completed, we bought the shower glass and then the owner came back and said that the cost of installing the shower glass was not included and he found one of his so called expert who came and installed the shower glass. We had to pay extra to the ‘so called’ expert. The shower glass was not set properly and the shower glass till date does not close properly. The so-called expert didn’t come back to fix it. Within 4 days of installing the shower glass the marble under the shower glass and tiles at the base of the shower came out. There was also leak due to the tiles not being set properly. Another expert was sent by the owner to fix the issues and we were informed that the job completed so far didn’t meet any quality standards. These new guys fixed the leak, but while doing that they ended up cracking the one the tiles. The water leak still hasn’t stopped.
The work on the 2nd washroom was started but looking at the condition of the first washroom we had to fire these people. We have since then realized that the dry wall put by this contractor was inside out. The side where the tiles should have been put was put inside. We have paid most of the money associated to the project. We have tried calling the owner multiple times to send someone to fix the cracked tile as this company gave us a warranty of 2 years but there has been no response. This owner is not someone that can trusted with bathroom renovations. I would not recommend this person to anyone. This company has mislead us right throughout the project – The initial cost, the workmanship and keeping up with the promises they made.
We now have to go through the entire process again of finding a decent contractor for the job. We are worried about letting anyone work on this job again. The new contractors we contacted have told us they will have to break everything all over again, and do not trust the work completed by this company.
In addition to the loss of money, we are having to do with one bathroom since last 3 months.
