March and Ken are nice people. However, March didn’t stand behind his work. In a nut shell, March didn’t start on time and pushed back the start date, his material list was off twice (I had to keep buying extra lumber), ALL of his hvac boxes had banana bends and were not straight, the shower was neither level nor square, the fireplace framing was not level, there were missing pieces of lumber in the shower and door frames that needed to be added, some framing in the hallway was crooked so the drywall appeared waive-like etc. March worked two half days and one full day. He rushed through the job to move on to the next. When I called him back to fix the issues, he said he was too busy and it would take weeks. There were also problems with the electrical panel as the frame wasnt built out enough to accommodate a door.

Most aggravating was that after March started the job, Ken text messaged me demanding more money. He claimed he wanted extra money to frame the fireplace although we discussed it in advance. This was akin to extortion. I paid it as I was afraid Id get a bad job. In hind site I got a bad job regardless!

At the end of the day I had to pay a lot more money to a real framer to correct the garbage job I received.

Unless you know a thing or two about framing, levelling and squaring in order to go over the quality of the work, I do not recommend this company.

While Step by Step offers competitive pricing, you get less than you bargain for. I added one photo as a taste of the quality of job to expect.
