Fast, Friendly, and Comprehensive

Steven showed up and installed a new junction box on a brick exterior garage in almost no time. He then offered his own time to help me install my camera and floodlight, which for a pro like him, took 5 minutes.

circuit breaker replacement and pot lights installation

We initially contacted Steven in February because one of our circuit breakers kept tripping. Steven understood the issue based on my description over the phone. He provided a quote and assured us that there would be no additional charges if further investigation was required. He arrived punctually and swiftly resolved the problem.

Impressed by his service, we decided to engage his expertise again for installing pot lights in our living room and basement. Steven and his team arrived on schedule and offered advice on the optimal number and distribution of pot lights. They completed the project within a day and a half. After finishing, they diligently cleaned the floors and ceilings, disposing of all waste. They patched up the ceiling holes, leaving us with only the repainting task. The pricing was reasonable, and the workmanship was impeccable. Additionally, they assisted in installing a ceiling light we had purchased ourselves. We recommend Homelectric for their outstanding services.

Electrical Fixes - Ceiling Fan, Switch Outlet, New Installations

I reached out to Steven and team after taking a quote from few others listed in homestars. Steven does not charge you by hr and gave me quote beforehand instead of others who charge you by hour and the buyer have no means to know what the upper limit is going to be. Their quote was the most reasonable, they showed up on time, fixed a series of issues including the ceiling fan which none of the other electricians even wanted to touch. After they finished they cleaned up everything and have been a thorough professional start to end. Strongly recommend Steven and Team.

I tried to replace a broken wall socket myself but was unsuccessful, found Mr. Zhao's number on line and called to ask for a technician to salvage my mess. Instead Mr. Zhao patiently walked me through the process on the telephone, and finally helped me finished the job, I am very grateful for his kindness.

Knob and tube replacement and panel upgrade

I had Steven quote on removing knob and tube wiring from a recently purchased century home in York region. He inspected the house and explained where to look for the k&t wiring and how the removal and new wiring would be run. His quote included adding additional receptacles to rooms to meet code standards and also suggestions on adding things such as outdoor receptacles in convenient locations. His quote document was clear and concise. After I accepted his bid, Steven started work when he stated he would and completed the work within the timeframe of the contract. I was worried about the number of holes that needed to be made to facilitate pulling the new wiring but was really pleased with the minimal number of holes that were needed. The electrical panel upgrade from 200 amp fuse to 200 amp breaker was done neatly and everything labelled. Wooden floors were protected from damage and cleanup at the end of each day spoke to the high trade professional pride in work Steven and his crew showed. To sum it up, a professional electrician doing quality work with no surprises from start of job to finish. I am extremely happy to recommend Steven to anyone looking to have electrical work done. You can truly have confidence hiring this
master electrician, especially when dealing with a worrisome knob and tube wiring removal job.

Panel upgrade, EV charger, and outdoor work

I hired Steven to run a dedicated EV line to my detached garage and to upgrade my panel from 100-200 in my older home.

Of all the tradesmen I've hired, he was the most professional, most responsive, most insightful in problem solving, and most conscientious. Ever feel like you're getting chided or shouted at by a tradesman? Steven is the exact opposite.

The panel work was done very well - on time, elegantly, and he liaised well with Hydro. And it was competitively priced, done on time, with a very little mess.

He provided good advice on making a suitable trench the 45 feet to the garage for the EV line, and where the trench might have been a tad shallow, he problem solved as needed. This work was less expensive than others I had quote.

In the course of things, we expanded the work a bit, which he was gracious about and very accommodating. He fixed some ongoing issues from a previous owner where other electricians weren't interested - it was constantly shorting and tripping the circuit. We ran a new power line for lighting, he put in three outdoor GFCIs, fixed three outdoor light fixture lines, several issues inside - he had to mostly rewire the old set up in the garage due to a previous owners' imperfect handiwork.

I've already recommended him to two other folks. Great work, fair price, superb service.

EV Level 2 Garage Upgrading

After contacting several HomeStars Electricians for advice and quotes, Steven (HOMElectric) was my chosen Master Electrician for this project.
While all the other Electricians were very quick to suggest that I spend $3K-4K+ to 'upgrade my circuit panel of my house 'to accommodate our desire to add EV charging service to our two car garage', Steven was the only Electrician to suggest that my 125Amp house panel may still have capacity. He asked for and showed me how to download a year's worth of use data from https://alectrautilities.com/, our provider. With this data, Steven and the ESA (as they permitted and issued a certificate for Steven's work) said that our desire for two new 50Amp EV Charging circuits was possible. We opted go with two 50Amp circuits versus 40 or 30Amp ones so that we could install a higher capacity EV Level 2 charger. We only intend to use one of these new circuits but decided it was wise to pay for a second circuit now because of all the drywall work involved to run the line through our finished basement). We know that it is likely that we'll want the second charger capability in the years to come. This was all authorized by ESA with our existing 125Amp panel based on our historical usage; saving us thousands and avoiding a service upgrade of a 200Amp panel upgrade that we shouldn't need - but could always still do down the road. Steven also used 'armored' cable - making the cabling very protected in our unfinished garage. Steven and his helper were very polite, very punctual and very clean - cleaning up after themselves each time they visited. (as they came back after offering to repair our drywall too!). I also appreciate that Steven was very tolerant of all my questions. I always like to understand the rationale and how things work and why. Exclusive of Tax and ESA Permits; Steven's work was very good value for us. Thank you.

Three Small Jobs

Steven arrived the day after I called asking him to fix two switches and a doorbell. He did one of the jobs then and returned the next day with parts needed and completed the job. He charged a reasonable flat rate plus parts and tax. He was friendly and efficient. I would recommend Homelectric.
