Protection Package

@Simplysmarthome Be careful when signing a protection package (plumbing, electrical, AC/Furnace Maintenance with this company. They said the thermostat and the Google Nest Hub are free. However, I want to get out of the contract after a year and they want me to pay $940. Very unreasonable. Make sure that you read the contract before signing. Dont be fooled by their agent.

A Service Contract in exchange for a lien on your property!

There is a company called SimplySmartHome that offers maintenance services for heating and cooling. They provide a Google Nest setup, if you sign up for their services. So far, I have found them fast on response and efficient.

Note: When you sign a contract with them, they put a lien on your property for the duration of the contract. This is to keep you from terminating the contract. This is in the fine print. They talked about other things when signing the contract, failed to mention this altogether. That is the reason for my 1-Star rating.

Of course, if you are fine with a property lien, this is a decent choice for maintenance.

Water softener rental

Simply smart is asking me to pay an outstanding balance of $600 already paid by my tenant to Reliance. I can’t contact Reliance because they say the contract is in my tenant’s name but simply smart is threatening me of a lawsuit if I don’t pay... so basically they are trying to extort me $600 with no proof this amount is due. My tenant sent proof she paid. They are pressuring me to pay and then stopped answering my emails and phone calls when I asked to cancel my outstanding balance.

HVAC installation

My Google Nest Thermostat all of sudden stopped communicating with my HVAC system in January 2020. I have a 2 year old daughter and a 2 month old baby and had to quickly research online to have a maintenance guy come look at the wiring on the thermostat and just have a service check on our HVAC system. I used Google Nest service providers who gave me as list of a few contacts and I got in touch with someone at Simply Smart Homes. I wish had done more research beforehand, but I trusted that Google was recommending someone reputable and I wanted the service as soon as possible because of the cold weather and my young kids. I had someone come check out the furnace the next day and he simply asked me touch the motor on the furnace while it was hot and said I needed to get it replaced and he was up-selling me on a new furnace and water heater (which I didn't ask for). I wanted someone to repair my current system and not sell me anything, but he made it seem like I was going to save money on a monthly basis and give me all these free Google products (bills have gone up since installing the new furnace; my furnace has been running more according to my statements energy and efficiency cycles and my bills are more expensive because now I am paying $50-60 more for a rental furnace for 30 years and extra costs for a fault furnace it seems). Additionally, the sales guy/maintenance guy asked me to tell the phone operator that he had left my house when they called to ask after agreeing to these installations, which I found weird. I didn't know about any of these laws until I started investigating and had the furnace installed, but I ended up signing these documents because I needed a fully functioning furnace for the winter. The furnace ran okay, but again I was paying more than I was in previous years as a comparison. Fast forward, to May 2020 and after paying double and triple the amount on my bills. I've been trying to run my A/C now and notice that the cool air is not pumping in my house. The thermostat and air conditioning are fully functioning and my A/C unit has been running for hours with no sight of reaching optimal temperature. My kids bedrooms are a heat trap. I took a look downstairs and noticed that there is a pool of water building under the "new" furnace and lots of condensation along the vents, as well as, air blowing out from the sides that do not seem to be sealed correctly. Is there any way to get out of this contract? I'll be reporting all of this to the Better Business Bureau and taking further action and to fix these issues. Thanks.
