Mark and his team were amazing. There was great communication while the work was being done. His team was always pretty much daily (unless he let me know otherwise), and they got the job done quickly, and with a high standard for quality.

We were also planning some other work in the house with a general contractor and Mark and team were able to work super well to coordinate and organize things with him.

Changing our foundation was something we didn't consider lightly, but it helped when Mark explained he does it more conservatively than required. I also appreciated how Mark would take the time to answer all my questions, no matter how technical. His crews were easy to get along with and he got along well with our neighbours.

New Depths have done an excellent job with this project. Exceptionally communicative, punctual, and professional. The team was well managed, hardworking and pleasant. In addition to underpinning, weeping tile, heated floors, and large window wells were done by Mark and his team. This type of renovation is, of course, time consuming and creates significant upheaval but working with New Depths was anything but stressful. Highly recommended.

When considering whether to underpin our century home, we had many uncertaintiesabout the costs and stresses, about the logistics of our semi-detached basement space, and about undertaking an intrusive project while working from home with young kids.

From our initial phone conversation and first site meeting, Mark showed himself to be a highly knowledgeable, principled, and personable operator. I received quotes from four different contractors before selecting New Depths, and Marks written estimate was by far the most comprehensive in itemizing the details, phases, and costs required to lower our basement by two feet. From the start, his engineering background and thoughtful manner gave us a lot of confidence in his approach, and his abilities as a clear and constant communicator were a huge factor for us throughouthe prepared weekly schedules that gave us (and our neighbours) an outline of the overall work plan, he was very direct and resourceful in addressing a couple of unexpected challenges, and he was always available to answer my many questions (even in the evening, on weekends, or from his daughters hockey practices).

Over the seven week job we also got to know the rest of Marks team, and they are a great bunch of guys. Jae was an excellent foremanvery organized, reliable, courteous, and tidy. Despite the intensity of the work (extremely hard clay, and then extremely wet mud!), the crew remained very cheerful, efficient, respectful, and fun to talk with; it was a total pleasure to have them as extended members of our household.

Ive been involved in multiple renovations and have worked with good engineers and tradespeople in the past, but I can confidently say that Mark is a contractor of rare integrity, competence, and dedication. He is honest and positive, a great communicator and a great problem solver. We had a wonderful working relationship with Mark, and I know that in this city its not every day that you find a contractor you can genuinely like and genuinely trust.

Our house presented some particular challengeshard clay, tricky access with no laneway and limited space for a debris bin, and additional considerations for neighbors. We now look back on the project with great satisfactionwe felt ourselves to be in very capable hands throughout, we are extremely happy with the complete transformation of our basement space, and we feel we got excellent value for the cost.

New Depths Underpinning Inc worked with us to underpin and create a room under our garage. They were professional at all times and communicated status and any issues for discussion in a very timely manner. We live in a 95 year old home in Bloor West Village. The basement height was 6' 2" which meant it wasn't really usable space. New Depths lowered our basement floor by about 3 feet, installed in-floor heating below the new concrete slab, and installed a flush beam in the ceiling, giving us a beautiful and usable basement space with 8' 6" ceiling height.

The New Depths crew were amazing (capable, clean, on-time and on-budget), and they really know what they are doing (the area we live in is built on beach sand, which makes digging easy, but can also easily cave in if you aren't careful during underpinning). The owner's engineering background gave us confidence that the job would be done well, and as we have started bringing in trades to do the finish work in the basement, they have all commented on the great underpinning job.

New Depths was a pleasure to work with (everything you want in a contractor: honest, committed, and careful about how they spend customers' money). It was one of the least stressful home renovations we have ever done. They became more like a family member than a contractor to us. We highly recommend New Depths to anyone.

We just finished a full underpinning with New Depths and we couldn't be more happy. Over the past few years we've done a full gut renovation on our house and have worked with many contractors. Mark and his team just completed underpinning our basement. We could not be happier with the work that they did. Mark knew that we were newbies when it came to renovations, and he broke things down and explained things to us every step of the way. Before they even started, Mark came over several times to answer questions that we had (on site so he could point things out). He gave us so many options so that we could fit the project to our budget. In the end, they finished on time and on budget.

Mark and his team demolished the basement, gave us 8.6 foot ceilings, a 20 foot room (getting that 20 foot beam in through the side window took them a full seven hours), gave us all new drains, new backwater valve, a sump pump and poured a beautiful concrete slab. I didn't even know what those things were before I met Mark!

From the moment the project started, Mark's team were amazing; we were home all summer while they were working and they were incredible. The team worked so hard and efficiently. They were so clean! The site was left spotless every day at the end of the work day. The work was meticulous. Mark's team were so kind and played awesome music (with some excellent singing every day). My kids missed them when they were done the job.
