After dealing with several companies that wasted my time it was a pleasure to work with Mace. Professional, efficient and straightfoward, Carl and his team were a delight to deal with.

Carl and his team are the utmost professionals, the best in the business! They had a complex task with removing the heavy paint over brick on the exterior of our house which they did so with patience and perseverance. Premises were well protected and all dust/debris was cleaned up promptly. Carl has an in-depth knowledge of masonry and helps educate his customers along the way. Pricing is reasonable and fair! Highly recommend Carl and his team.

Having worked successfully with Mace Masonry last year, we were comfortable hiring Carl and his crew to help us with a key element of our extensive backyard renovation this spring. Once again, we're extremely pleased with the great job they did.

The scope of the job was clear: replace an existing drab concrete patio with something larger and far more dynamic. Carl advised on several types of stone, and was also very pleased to discuss my own recommendations. He is patient, considerate and generous with his time, and spent several evenings with us mulling over options before beginning the work.

When we began the project, Carl and Jason worked long hours each day to bring our backyard vision to life. They replaced the old stone with a beautiful new limestone patio that transformed the entire area. The installation was precise and we could see Carl's pride in his work at every phase. He and his crew also built concrete foundations for a custom steel planter that was part of the project, and worked comfortably with our other contractors at all times.
The end result was a beautiful "new" backyard that we've been able to enjoy much more, virtually every evening this past summer.

Aside from the excellent work, these are straight-up good guys who are a pleasure to work with, which is equally important in my view. I am pleased to add to the list of recommendations for Carl and his team at Mace Masonry.

Carl and his crew at Mace Masonry installed a new basement walkout at the rear of our detached bungalow, along with increasing the height and width of three of our basement windows. Our basement is now a liveable space which is full of light, and has it's own separate entrance! We were blown away with the level of skill and professionalism of Carl and his crew, the entire job was quite intricate and involved installing a large amount of steel which was required to support the changes in the masonry work for the windows. Carl kept us informed throughout each phase of the project and provided a construction schedule and budget which came in on point! Thank you Carl!

Carl is a breath of fresh air. He will provide a sensible estimate. He will listen to you and offer helpful suggestions. You will not get a spiel like "This has to be done from the roof-line up.", or "Your chimney is leaning 3" to the right and will fall down!", or "We like to do things our way!". And my favorite: "This will be expensive!" Carl and his assistant Jason work like a tag-team and one can see they don't waste time talking. When the job is done the work-site will be clean. What's there not to like? I already have another job or two lined up for him. Giving him a chance would be a smart choice. You can, and probably should get other estimates, and then realize that going along with some of those other recommendations could cost you up to five times more. Caveat emptor!

This large and extensive project was a primarily a redesign of large backyard in Central GTA. Carl was retained with the idea that he would provide the masonary work needed to do the hardscape and prepare areas for softscape. I did not retain the services of a landscape company but did have a rudimentary paper design. It was a design sketched in pencil and difficult to visualize. But I found that Carl was very interactive in the design phase as the project evolved. I expected that he would able to use his experience to advise us on materials. But Carl also provided invaluable input on layout and specific design features. The consultation process continued throughout the long term project. This was critical. Carl has an easy manner and communication style that lends to an excellent professional working relationship. Furthermore, Mace Masonary accounting staff is very neat and professional. Mace Masonary has been quick to respond to questions and requests.The complex, challenging project design involved working with a new pool, old demolished pool, existing fencing, new fencing, multiple retaining walls, new softscape, large treed areas, pool equipment, iron gates, iron railings, large stone steps, multiple drains, and problems with grading at the house. He was able to assist us to our vision of a unique, beautiful, contemporary yet classic design. He was able to bring Life back to a backyard associated with a bad experience. My friend's comments on seeing the project, "Wow, welcome to Club Med. It's your Muskoka Oasis in the city."I have to note that this project involved many different people which involved various stressful challenges. However, Carl and his team were able to maintain their professionalism. They were able to work collaboratively with all involved with a patience far beyond what could be expected. Carl was not able to keep our project on time but this was not due to factors within his control. We highly recommend Mace Masonary. I can highly recommend the stone mason company, Mace Masonry, to anyone looking for a job extremely well executed, reasonably price and completed on time. The highly talented and dedicated owner, Carl Mace, together with his incredibly hard working and also talented team, Jason, Denny, and Spiros, converted our very dull front yard which was in dire need of repair, into a spectacular new space with a stunning and unusual retaining wall, beautiful granite steps, tuck pointing, as well as creating a whole new space by removing the grass and flower beds and laying very eye catching paving stones. Not only have we received many compliment about how wonderful our front yard looks but also about the superb workmanship that was done. We finally have curb appeal.

We were also very impressed with the clean up at the end of each day not only cleaning up our yard but also the neighbour's yard as well as any parked cars that got dusty. Last but not least, they are all a great team to work with. Thank you guys for all your beautiful and hard work, so professionally executed.

Carl and his team did excellent work in taking down the damaged retaining wall and rebuilding it perfectly. They also re-levelled my flagstone walkway and fixed some of the steps. Really great group of guys who know their trade. Thanks again. Francois

Our 100 year old home was in need of some re-pointing work in front. The mortar had begun to crack and moisture was getting in behind the bricks.
Funnily enough I met Carl while shopping at the grocery store. I spoke with him briefly and immediately felt comfortable with him. We had him come over to our home and assess the issue. He not only addressed our issue with the bricks but also installed two sills at the front of the home that were incorrectly installed the first time and patched a hole on the side of the house. He and his partner arrived first thing in the morning and worked till end of day. They were very polite and gave us some tips on how to better take care of our brick. I would not hesitate to call him again.

Carl was recommended to me by my neighbour! Very friendly! His employee did an excellent job!
