Cabinet countertop

Really poor measuring meant for a poor fit. Owner came and argued and interrupted but agreed to fix it eventually because it was obviously a poor job and even the installer (his employee) agreed it was a poor fit. Took half of the stone away to cut a new piece. Eventually the replacement piece was installed. Now the other piece has a very obvious chip in it. They come back again to try to hide the chip by smoothing the edges. It doesn't work, it's still an obvious flaw. Installer and cutter find a solution that envolves removing the whole countertop again and refinishing one edge. Owner doesn't want to do it and says take it as it and pay full price, or we'll take the whole thing back. We agree to have them remove the brand new damaged countertop. We'll go somewhere else.

Company Response

There are a number of factual inaccuracies in this review. The conclusion of dealing with a really difficult customer was that their full price was refunded (the very same day) and we wished them good luck. The vindictiveness of the above review should be enough to discount. The job was initially installed with a 1/8" gap to a side wall (the Marble Institute of America - Dimension Stone Design Manual specifies that this is acceptable). The customer didn't like this, so we replaced the piece and in the process bought an additional slab to accomplish. The new piece had a slight dimensional thickness difference from the original piece. We ground the pieces on either side of the joint about 6" on either side. We agreed with the customer that this was still visually not acceptable. We came back and ground across 3 feet and it was visually perfect. Due to customer's schedule, we weren't able to do this for approx. 2 months. Again the Design standard for thickness is +/- 1/32" and we flattened to no difference. Despite this, the customer indicated they were not happy. At this point, they wanted the job ripped out and re-done. This was not reasonable from our point of view given the effort we made to satisfy them, and we gave them their money back. Finally, the reference to chips is puzzling as there were no chips in the stone and we have pictures of all steps to verify. This experience proves the old adage that you can't please all of the people all of the time esp. when someone is not willing to be satisfied with any effort you make.

Quartz Kitchen Countertop and Shelf

I was shopping around and getting quotes from several stone fabricators and was immediately impressed with Kaya and how professional, quick and personable she was. After comparing quotes I picked North Shore Stone Works and then Artur came to my home to take the measurements as I had already spent about two weeks of shopping around for the Quartz I wanted to install.

Well, Artur came in and took the measurements and very nicely explained to me that I would not be happy with the Quartz I picked out as I was going to have a seam and my shelf would have to be in another Quartz or I would have to buy a second slab as the Quartz slab I had picked out was not big enough. Artur asked me to come to their office and look at the samples they had. I am extremely grateful as Artur was right, I ended up picking out a beautiful Quartz called Nimbus which is absolutely stunning in my kitchen with white cabinets and backsplash and slate appliances and sink.

I can't thank Artur enough for his great taste in what would look best in my kitchen and his superior workmanship. I would and will recommend North Shore Stone Works to anyone needing a stone fabricator.

Absolutely Professional

I came to North Shore Stone Works after I had wasted 6 months trying to work with a different Vancouver countertop/granite contractor, who were just as expensive, but turned out to be unprofessional and poor communicators.

From the very beginning of the process in contacting North Shore Stone Work's office and talking to Kaya, to visiting their office and discussing ideas with Artur, to measuring and then to the install with Rob - it was an extremely professional, thoughtful, well communicated experience! It is evident that they all take pride in the excellent work and quality materials and products they install.

I chose my stone - 2 slabs of honed dark grey granite - from Margranite in Burnaby, a lot of stone. It looks so amazing in my kitchen, because it was so accurately measured and cut and installed. I absolutely love it.

It was such a positive, and relieving experience - I would certainly work with them again !

PS. I live in the Sunshine Coast, BC ; ie, steep driveway, ferries. It was not a problem for them, and it efficient and on time. They have a lot of previous experience installing on the Sunshine Coast. I highly recommend them if you're on the Sunshine Coast.

granite countertop

I had my countertop replaced with a granite one. Both Mike and Artur were very helpful and patient while I searched for a granite slab. I had a difficult access to my kitchen, but the installers were here at the agreed up time, and worked quickly and professionally. They were very pleasant to have in my home and very knowledgeable when answering my questions. My questions after the job was finished were dealt with immediately. They did a lovely job and I'm totally pleased.

Kitchen countertop & breakfast bar

North Shore Stone Works installed a quartz countertop and breakfast bar in our kitchen, in the summer of 2015. The latter involved having a steel bracket custom-made, for extra reinforcement of the breakfast bar. North Shore Stone did the drawing for this and then facilitated my having it manufactured by a local metal shop. Both Mike and Artur were great to work with, answering numerous questions I had, and providing a variety of countertop samples I could take home to try with subway tiles being considered for our backsplash. Artur was good about coming by the house on several occasions, to consult on changes to our plans and to confirm measurements. The installation went well, with minimal seaming needed. Everyone who has seen the finished project agrees that North Shore Stone did excellent work. Their quote was very competitive, too, and I'm happy that I chose them for this important part of our kitchen renovation.

New Build & Bathroom Renovations

I first met Artur, Mike and their team when they worked on our newly built family home. They installed all the counters (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry) in our home and were on time, friendly, knowledgeable, and very good at their work.
Building a new home is always stressful but these men made this process as easy for us as they could.
We were so pleased with the result that I referred them to a friend of mine that was renovating all of her bathrooms. Again, they were so helpful with their suggestions, their selections of stone was beautiful and they made the whole process so easy. Like us, my friend was so pleased with her counters.
We would recommend North Shore Stone Works to anyone and feel confident that their work would be just as beautiful as the work they did for us.
Thank you Artur and Mike!
