A very fitting name.

Jafar is awesome! We hired him months ago to do our furnace inspection after reading all the positive reviews online, & checking his BBB standing & certifications. We found him very thorough, personable, professional, & reasonable priced. He talked us through everything, gave some great advice, & we decided then we'd definitely continue to use him for our inspections. Fast forward months later. Today we smelled gas. Fortis came & didn't detect a problem but were not helpful at all. We called Jafar at 4:30. He was in North Van but said he could be here in an hour (we live in Port Moody & it was close to rush hour). He arrived at about 5:00, stayed for an hour thoroughly checking every possible cause of the smell. He even went with us to ask some neighbours if they'd smelled anything or been doing any work to cause the smell. Best of all...no charge!!

Thanks for you kind review.
I'm happy that we found it is from outside not inside the house.

Fireplace cleaning

First-time operator was friendly and let me and my kids watch him perform his work.
Can't leave a 10* review because wasn't done right the first time. He left a noticeable mismatch in black paint color near the top, and along the sides where we had some masking tape. When reassembled, the lower grill didn't fully close like before.
Thankfully, Jafar stands behind his company with good customer service. He came back out and did what it took to make it right.

Gas fire place servicing

I called in the morning and the technician arrived a few hours later. The fireplace needed a new generator and a cleaning. The power was out in the building but the technician was able to do his work without using a vacuum. Everything went smoothly and not a spot of soot was out-of-place. The fireplace operates very well now and looks new. Excellent work! I'm very satisfied.

clean, and restart firepalce

The fireplace was unused for 5 years and quite dirty. I received an estimate over the phone and the final price was within the estimate and well worth it. The fireplace looks like new after being repainted, cleaned and thoroughly tested. Jafar was quick to make arrangements for the servicing and we are very pleased with the results.

Replacement of radiator and repair of boiler

Jafar is one of those exceptional people you come across from time to time.

In April we had him remove a large radiator and replace it with a smaller one, as part of a kitchen renovation we were starting at that time. Based on emailed photos of our boiler, and a discussion over the phone, he provided a quote that was lower than others I received. This change-over of radiators was a last minute decision that needed to be done quickly; knowing this, Jafar found time in his busy schedule to get our work done right away. As it turned out, the job was more complex than originally anticipated, due to our hot water heating system being 55 years old. This necessitated that Jafar spend over 10 hours here, during which time he took no breaks. In the end, not only had he installed our new radiator, he identified and soldered a leak in the system and he took time to fully explain how this kind of heating system works, by showing me various components of the boiler.

I tried to offer Jafar more than what he originally quoted, realizing that it ended up being a much bigger job than either of us expected. He insisted on not charging more, though, so I accepted his generous offer.

I was very impressed with Jafar after this experience. Not only is he skilled in what he does, but he is a fine person: friendly, punctual, hard-working and honest. My intention was to put a good review for him [and other tradespeople we found on Homestars] after the renovation was over, but since we’re still working on this, I hadn’t yet gotten around to doing so. Something else happened recently, though, prompting me to post this review right away.

Following Jafar’s service call in April, we used our heating system for a few weeks, before the warm weather took hold. Then, after our long summer wherein we obviously didn’t need any heat on in the house, I turned up the thermostat two mornings ago, to remove a chill in the air. The boiler didn’t come on, however, and so I called Jafar. He asked me to text him some photos of the system, so he could be sure of various internal components I could check first, before initiating another call-out. He determined that the problem was likely with power coming in to the boiler, which was preventing the electric igniter from allowing the gas flame to catch. We decided that I might want to have our electrician check things out first, so I contacted him to come take a look. He was busy and told me it would be a few days before he could come by. I was okay with this, given the weather’s being mild enough that having heat on in the house was not crucial. Then yesterday, after Jafar had finished a house call in North Vancouver, he offered to stop by to take a quick look at things for us, since the electrician had not yet been able to come. Jafar very quickly determined that a small fuse positioned near the boiler’s LED panel was blown, so he put in a new one. This one blew right away, too, which led him to conclude that somehow there was a short in the wire leading up to the thermostat. He followed this wire along its path through rafters in the ceiling, and was able to find a small section where the insulation on the wire had been sheared, after becoming lodged against a heating pipe during some other work done as part of the kitchen reno. Clearly, the combination of bare wire against metal was causing the short. Jafar wrapped the stripped section with electrician’s tape, popped in another fuse and the problem was solved. He was here for half an hour taking care of this issue, and supplied two fuses, and yet he wouldn’t accept payment for his work. He said he was in the area anyway, and he was happy to have been able to fix our problem without more fuss. I was so thankful for both his timing and his expertise in taking this job off of what had become a long list of things needing my attention, and I couldn’t believe that he didn’t want payment, especially since he was no doubt tired after a full day of work.

So, all this to say that Jafar deserves high praise. As stated above, he is highly knowledgeable and skilled, but more importantly, he has a rare work ethic. He is definitely now my ‘go-to’ person for any heating needs, and I will refer him to friends and family who may need servicing or installation of boilers, furnaces, air conditioners or water heaters.

Thank you, Jafar. You are the best!

Fireplace & Furnace

I'm so glad I found Jafar, after checking my furnace and the piping he pointed out a very major issue in my furnace room to the hot water tank motor, that could have been a major disaster later on down the road, thanks to the poor workmanship during the construction of the house, this required the safety officer to make a visit to check the issue, it ended up my hot water heater motor was over heating up to almost 100 degrees ( a fire waiting to happen!!) so it was recommended we change the motor & hot water tank and the weak PVC piping ! He professionally did the work, and saved me thousands down the road by some preventative measures that he took! thank you again Jafar!

furnace work and air conditioning work

HELLO NEW CUSTOMERS,

I needed some furnace work done at my business and also air conditioning work done at my home. I called around and decided to give BEST WAY HEATING a call. The price was the best from all the phone calls i made.

The owner (JAFFAR) is also (very important here) the operator. Since Jaffar runs his own business and also does the work himself he i assume has low over head and has the best prices from all the phone calls i made.

On top of that his workmanship and the pride he takes is exceptional. He also tries his best to bring the cost down by (A) trying to rebuild a part if it is possible and (B) did not even mark up on parts that he did buy.

He fixed my AC and went out to the hardware store and bought me 6 air filters for like less than 12 dollars which was what he paid for it. All other service operators would mark up the parts. For example before i used BEST WAY HEATING i used another company to fix my fireplace. Just the part alone they charged $80.00. I checked around and the same part went for $15.00.

I would highly recommend anyone using JAFFAR and BEST WAY HEATING!

P.S. and he also fixed my door handle

I WILL MOST DEFINITELY USE HIM AGAIN!

furnace replacement

I found Best Way Heating through Homestars and they truly live up to the 10 out of 10 rating. I was having trouble with a poorly installed furnace that started to leak after a year. I called Best Way Heating on a Saturday and talked to Jafar. I asked if he could come the following week and give an opinion on what to do, but instead of waiting a few days, he came that afternoon. He didn't try to up-sell me, but instead gave me a range of options and the one he thought was best. I decided to have him repair the furnace the following Friday. While I waited for our appointment, Jafar took it upon himself to contact the furnace company, and negotiated with them to give us a brand new furnace! As such, we got a new furnace, and he installed it correctly and professionally, and didn't charge anymore than what we had discussed previously. He worked by the hour, didn't waste time, and took the time to do a quality job. Hiring Jafar is a no brainer, he's awesome! You won't be disappointed with Best Way Heating!

gas fireplace service

Today's visit was the 2nd by Jafar and we can't compliment him enough for his fine service. I emailed at 9 am and he was in my home same day. He is extremely knowledgeable, very efficient and just so pleasant to work with. There were no high pressure efforts to have the unit replaced, and, in fact, he recommended that it did not need replacing as everything was working safely and efficiently. Without question I would recommend this company for any work required, and especially, to ask for Jafar. Thank you, Jafar.
