Could not be more satisfied

I originally contacted Ontario Downspout Service a couple of years ago to deal with a gutter leaking inside the house, and to replace the siding of my house. I signed the contract, and paid the deposit, but then we just kept running into delays (our problems, not the company's). When the timing was finally right, Mark and Harvey (Mark is Harvey's son, this is a family business) scheduled the job and didn't even mention a change to price. To honor their original contract without even asking for inflation told me this is a very down to earth company. To be fair, they earned interest on my deposit for 2 years so I guess we are even, but I was really impressed with how they stuck to their word. In any case, they came to do the job and everything went really, really well.

We walked through the job, spoke about any concerns, discussed finishing options and then they got started. Mark and his crew arrived EXACTLY when they said they would EVERY DAY. They protected the neighbors house and my deck EVERY DAY. They checked in regularly throughout the job EVERY DAY. And at finishing time, they cleaned the work site, swept up debris and even used a magnetic broom to pick up screws/nails; EVERY DAY. I was thoroughly impressed with the work, and even more impressed that Mark asked me about last minute design decisions as we were going, so I would be happy at the end. No assumptions, just open and honest feedback.

What really impressed me was the way Mark managed his team. Mark and Hector (who I assume was some kind of supervisor) has a team of workers with English as a second language. Throughout the job, they were treated brilliantly and safety was the number one concern. At one point, the wind was picking up and Mark made a decision to stop work for the day. They were using 20 foot ladders so a fall could kill someone... Did it take an extra day to complete the job? Yes. Would I have it any other way? No - this is how you should treat people and the crews safety was number one priority. Bravo.

Not everything was flawless however - unfortunately there was a measurement/warehouse error and there was not enough of the siding (special order) to complete the job. This added a one week delay to our completion time, but it was OK. Mark communicated early that there was a problem, told me when it would be fixed and then kept me up to date on how things were going. There was also a few things that went wrong along the way; a broken vent & broken during demolition? They identified it when it happened, and then fixed it no cost without any issue. A sharp corner on some siding that was missed during installation? They came back later to fix it for me, no problem. But these things happen - no project is perfect, and the way Mark and his team identified the problems proactively and then fixed them for me was great. Consider this: A delay of week and I'm still giving then 10 starts should really tell you how great this company is to work with.

All things considered, I couldn't be happier. The pricing was reasonable, the communications were excellent, they treat their staff right and do great work. I can highly recommend Ontario Downspout Service.

Great job Great Communication Happy Mother In-Law

Both my house and my mother in-law's house needed work done on our Eves and Downspouts. I searched HomeStars for a while to find Ontario Downspout service. I knew from their reviews and responses that they were going to be a great company but from my very first call with Harvey I was sure this was the company that I would use. Harvey quickly came by and gave us a quote for both properties and also ended up quoting on my mother in-laws next door neighbor too. With this wet spring it took a while but Harvey fit us in pretty quickly and scheduled the job to be done. I was actually away when the work was done but our house ended up looking great - our job was pretty simple my mother in-law's was a more complicated job - here is what she had to say about Ontario Downspout Service: "Mark and his team removed and replaced old eavestroughs, rotting wood and fascia. They made sure that I understood the process and why changes to the slope of the trough and a more efficient placement of downspout would be beneficial. The crew cheerfully worked a long, hot day and then cleaned up magnificently. We have had rain since the installation and the system worked perfectly. My house looks better too. Thank you Harvey, Mark and Team" A big thank you to Harvey and Mark for doing such a great job on both of our houses. Being caught in the middle of a mother in-law and a contractor can go sideways quickly - I was so happy that Ontario Downspout Service did such a great job!

Complete Eavestrough and downspout replacement

I will get right to the point. Hire Ontario Downspout. Mark and his team are great. They arrived exactly when they said they would. Mark took me around the house to confirm everything that was to be done and then they went to work. A few hours later they were done and it looks and works great. Mark went the extra distance to make some small repairs to some preexisting damaged areas at no cost. They even installed some splash guards in certain areas where the roof runoff may be a too fast and overshoot the trough.

Here is the reason I hired them. I had companies come out that I found through the home show. The quotes that I was getting were outrageous. To qualify that statement these were systems with leaf guards. Even eliminating the leave guard system the quote on just the eaves trough and downspout were still double what Ontario Downspout quoted. So I checked on Homestars to get more quotes and found Ontario Downspout. I immediately liked the website. Nice Father and Son business. (I think the other companies were US companies because they always contacted me through a call center). So I spoke with Harvey and asked if he could come out and give me a quote on the job. This is what sold me. He told me to hang on while he pulls up a picture of my house. He gave me the measurements of the house then quoted me a price (+/- 10%). His measurements were spot on and the quote was less than half the other companies. Regardless if he had some app he uses for this, he did not have to make an appoint to come out and spend 90 minutes telling me how bad all the other products are and to measure up my house, which is what the other companies did. Harvey and Mark know there stuff. Also, I wanted to disconnect my downspouts from the city system and drain the water down the side of the house. Only Harvey and Mark said not to do this. It would not drain properly and would evenly cause flooding issues with my property or with my neighbours property. They came up with a much better drainage solution. I appreciate that kind of advice.

Finally on their advice we upgraded to 6” troughs and they look great. Good call guys. Thanks

expert job

We had our front eavestrough previously done by another company-really bad job. Harvey was very respectful, and Mark and his team did a SUPERB job. Efficient, high quality work. Everything explained and confirmed. The next day was the test with a massive downpour and the system is perfect. Highly recommended.
As a follow up we had the whole roof replaced, all the eavestrough with 6 inch ones and the skylight. What an amazing job from start to finish. Great workmanship, all explained, excellent clean up. Even recommended higher if that's possible
